Leisure Cottage Kirkby Stephen
Leisure Cottage is a charming, two bedroom, stone built cottage in the heart of Kirkby Stephen. It sleeps 4 comfortably with the option of a pull out bed which sleeps a further two. There is off street parking, open gas fire, modern bathroom with underfloor heating and a downstairs cloakroom. There is a small outside seating and a raised garden with lovely views. Leisure Cottage is situated 50 metres from the River Eden and 200 metres from the high street with its popular cafes, pubs and shops There is a secure dry shed for storage of bulky items such as bikes There is off street parking outside adjoining garage though parking is not normally an issue except at peak times. If you walk about 10 yards towards the river there is a narrow passage Little Wind that leads directly up to high street If you have any questions please message us on air bnb and we will try to reply as promptly as possible Leisure Cottage is situated on a quiet road leading down to the River Eden so there is no through traffic. It is literally a stones throw from the river where our children spent many happy days feeding the ducks, skimming stones and getting wet .There are numerous walks ranging from gentle strolls to thigh burning climbs all without the need to drive. If you have transport there is Tan Hill inn the highest pub in England about a 20 min drive away and the Mallerstang Valley about ten minutes drive .If you are interested in wild life we have seen pheasant, grouse, deer, hare, eagles, ptarmigan and red squirrels on our walks. In fact we believe there is a red squirrel family nesting near by as they are often seen running along the stone wall opposite the cottage. You may also see the large African parrots . Scarlett Macaws that frequent Kirkby Stephen. They roost nearby at the late John Strutts home but are often seen flying around particularly near the river The parish church is also well worth visiting, it is called the Cathedral of the Dales and parts of the structure date back to Norman times it’s a particularly impressive church for the size of the town. The cloisters are also an interesting historical feature. Kirkby Stephen is well served with eating and drinking establishments it is after all still a working market town with weekly livestock auctions , a real experience if you’ve never been to one ! Check out time is at 10:00am, we may be able to extend this in some circumstances and with advanced notice. PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE SIGNED UP FOR THE AIRBNB 72 HOUR BUFFER WHICH MEANS THE PROPERTY WILL ALWAYS BE UNOCCUPIED FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE ANY GUEST ARRIVES
