Rose Cottage is a large pretty thatched cottage with woodburning stove and Hot Tub in Devon's peaceful countryside surrounded by fields and only a short walk to the River Otter and 2 miles from the seaside at Budleigh Salterton. Beautiful scenery and riverside and coastal walks . The historic city of Exeter only 12 miles. Pub in walking distance also cream teas . Birdwatching on the River Otter . Breakfast included. Ideal for romantic weekend getaways. Not suitable for children under 12. The only shared space is the stairs. Guests have their own private lounge with 65 inches flat-screen TV with Sky and comfortable leather sofas, and woodburning stove ,also flat-screen TVs in bedrooms. Also private dining room. The house has been furnished to a high standard with many antiques and luxury touches. Guests have the majority of the house to themselves with plenty of space to relax you will not have to share facilities. You don't have a kitchen as we provide breakfast in the price , its a large house and you have most of it , we don't have any shared spaces apart from the hall and stairs . The house is not suitable for children under 12. The Cottage has no close neighbours and is situated in the Otter Valley surrounded by lovely scenery in half acre grounds with tropical parrot aviaries in the garden plus an Orchard. Hot Tub also in the garden and is open all year subject to availability, with decking areas and Garden furniture and adjacent south facing Summerhouse with front opening glass doors and woodburning stove- a peaceful sanctuary. Guests have their own bedrooms, one with King size bed and ensuite shower and toilet , another with ensuite toilet and hand basin , also downstairs bathroom with shower, and Guests Lounge and Dining Room with Wood burning Stove , in fact a large part of the house is for their own private use, and they will not be disturbed by the hosts unless they need assistance or wish to know anything, in which case the hosts are usually on hand to offer advice The hot tub is open all year round subject to availability and is shared with 2 other guests, but is open until 11pm every day so plenty of time to enjoy it! Shops in Budleigh Salterton 2 miles away, local shop within 15 minutes walk Hosts usually on hand most of the time, for advice on the local area for walks and shopping and places to eat East Budleigh is the birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh and is full of chocolate box thatched cottages, we are between East Budleigh and Otterton, both can be reached on foot in 20 minutes or a couple of minutes in the car. Its only 2 miles from the sea, or about 45 minutes walk along the River Otter to the small town of Budleigh Salterton with its long promenade and beach with colourful pebbles. It is a short drive to the Regency seaside town of Sidmouth with its many cafes and independent shops and in the other direction the seaside town of Exmouth with its long sandy beaches. Only 12 miles away and pre-dating the arrival of the Romans in AD 50, Exeter’s history is rich and long with its unique Underground Passages, free Red Coat Guided Tours, magnificent Cathedral, imposing Roman wall and beautiful Quayside. Exeter is also home to the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum where visitors can explore the city’s 2,000-year history under one roof! The Cottage is 20 minutes walk from the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve is a 57-acre ( (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ) Local area is Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) consisting of tidal mudflats and saltmarsh. Abundant coastal and country and riverside walks, Buses from East Budleigh- about 10 minutes walk. Trains to Exmouth and Exeter. Can get a Taxi from Exmouth or Exeter Railway stations. Parrots kept in Aviaries in the garden - some noise at dawn & dusk, but not as noisy as seagulls!!
