The Barn - a cottage in our barn near Ullswater

A bright, airy cottage in a converted barn on our small farm near Ullswater. There's plenty of space to spread out and relax with views to the front and rear straight onto the fells capturing sunrises and sunsets alike. Two bedrooms comfortably sleep up to 5 with the large double height kitchen/dining room a perfect space for a larger get-together. The downstairs includes the kitchen, sitting room, a bedroom and the bathroom and has been specifically designed to be wheelchair friendly. The three cottages in the conversion are all full of original character with exposed beams and interesting spaces whilst also being cosy, clean and fresh. Large windows in both the kitchen/dining and sitting rooms allow plenty of natural light in and connect you to the Cumbrian landscape on your doorstep. We (Jim, Victoria and family) live in the farmhouse just up the drive so there's usually someone happy to help out with queries or local recommendations....we don't get out much! Feel free to come and ask. Our farm is tucked into Matterdale valley, just above Ullswater lake. Whatever takes your fancy there's usually something nearby to keep you happy. Walks of all shapes and sizes with waterfalls and amazing views, playing around in and on the lake, cafes, pubs and restaurants for all occasions, castles and museums. There's no need to get bored but when you fancy a bit of time out we don't think there's anywhere better to put your feet up with a mug, or a glass, and idly watch life go by. We are easy to get to by car, just 15 minutes from Junction 40 of the M6. And with a car the popular centres of Keswick and Ambleside are short drives away. Buses run into the Lakes to the north of us all year round and along the lake to the south of us in the summer months. The Ullswater Steamers work up and down the lake all year.
