Aloe Cottage in Betty's Bay, close to Cape Town

Set in a lovingly tended fynbos and aloe garden, the cottage overlooks a green belt and the spectacular mountains that abutt Betty's Bay. Within short walking distance is the dramatic rocky coastline, while the main Betty's Bay swimming beach is just 5kms away. Approximately 3kms away is the entrance to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve which offers a variety of hikes as well as whitewater rafting in winter. Other hiking trails are within a few minutes drive as is the Harold Porter Botanical Garden. Comfortably and attractively furnished the cottage has a queen-size bed, a leather couch, a dining table and chairs, a well-equipped kitchenette with washing up facilities and a two plate gas stove. It is set in the courtyard of the main house, where the single owner may or may not be in residence over weekends. If he is in residence he will make sure that your privacy is respected. Betty's Bay has a variety of restaurants, as has Kleinmond and Pringle Bay, the latter two villages both being within 15 kms of the cottage. Betty's Bay is also well-known for its penguin colony and the beautiful Harold Porter Gardens, which not only caters for quiet contemplation of the flora but also offers a number of short hiking trails for the more active. Aloe Cottage is not listed for occupation during the December holidays as it is then rented out as part of the Courtyard Cottage, which is able to accommodate six guests in four bedrooms. My name is Viv and I am renting out the cottage on behalf of my brother, Stuart, a clinical psychologist in Cape Town. My husband and I live in Jock' s Bay in Betty's Bay, less than five minute's drive from Aloe Cottage. I will be there to greet you and will be available should you need any assistance. Not only providing a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, swimming and birdwatching, this peaceful and scenic part of the Overberg also offers a range of wine farms and a craft brewery, whale-watching in nearby Hermanus (whales also visit our immediate coastline!) and a host of local craft and food markets, all within a pleasant short drive from Aloe Cottage.
