The Beach Hut, Charlestown
Situated in the heart of the harbour village of Charlestown, the Beach Hut is a granite-built annexe with a delightful en-suite bedroom (one comfortable double bed), a bathroom consisting of a toilet, wash basin and walk-in shower (there is no bath), and a small balcony with sea views. There is private parking. A continental breakfast is provided daily. Charlestown is a small harbour village to the South East of St Austell. The harbour was built for the export of China clay produced a few miles inland. There is a fine Shipwreck and Heritage Centre in the village, and several excellent restaurants and pubs. The village is very well situated for exploring Cornwall in all directions. The Beach Hut is only 2 or 3 miles from The Eden Project, and 5 or 6 miles from The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the fishing village of Mevagissey. To the East is the literary town of Fowey - for many years the home of Daphne Dumaurier and Quiller-Couche. Lanhydrock House and Gardens (NT) are within 20 minutes drive, close to Lostwithiel - Cornwall's capital in the days of the Stannary Parliament. Charlestown has a beach on either side of the harbour. I live in the cottage joining The Beach Hut. Charlestown is a popular destination for both couples and families alike. There is something for everyone, beaches, artisan shops, pubs, restaurants and cliff walks being situated on the South West coastal path. Charlestown is on the main bus routes to St Austell, Par, Fowey, Mevagissey as well as the supermarkets of Asda and Tesco. There is a 2 night minimum booking.
