Open up the huge sliding doors and look out to Lion Rock and across the river to the Waitakere Ranges national park across the road. There is spacious sun drenched terrace, a private outdoor courtyard and outdoor shower for after the beach. If you’d like to stay in, there is Wifi, a 50” TV, Netflix, chrome cast, aircon / heat pump and a super comfy sofa to sink into and relax. Fully appointed with linen, towels, beach towels, and guest amenities, so all you need to do is show up and chill out. All brand new, double glazed and fully insulated with a high-end finish – this is your home away from home! The name "Ruruwai" is a combination of Ruru (New Zealands native owl also known as the Morepork because of it's call) and "wai" meaning water. There are many native birds in Piha and you will see a lot of them, and hopefully hear the Ruru at night. You are a 2 min walk to the Piha Store, Café, Art Gallery, RSA (for a beer and food) and a 5 min walk to the stunning Piha Beach and Lion Rock. Walking track to the Kitekite falls waterfall and Waitakere Ranges National Park at the end of the road and located right on the world famous Hillary Trail. You really can leave your car at the house and walk everywhere. Off street car parking provided. Ask us about push-bike rental if you’d like to cruise around on a bike. Or paddle board rental… put the board in the river across the road and paddle to Lion Rock. Garage below is reserved for the owners, but if you have bulkier items or would like to arrange secured covered parking, let us know. Portacot and highchair also available on request. There are two houses on the property and the owners live in the house behind. The driveway and the first part of the stairs are shared. But your place is totally seperate, private and fully self contained. We live at the house behind, and are available for any questions and advice you need. And if you have any special requests for your stay, we'll do our best to arrange for you. Other than that, we'll leave you to enjoy the peace and give you your privacy. Easy stroll to great coffee & pies at the Piha Store, eat in at the Piha Cafe, have a beer at the RSA, check out the Art Gallery, go for for a walk in the national park, or head to the beach and enjoy our world famous surf and one of the most jaw dropping views in NZ.
