Just 4 min from Dungog, silence is amazing, birdlife mornings, crickets and frogs at night, with splendid sunsets across Williams River Valley. Shedhouse has 40 acres, in the cattle country of the Hunter Valley. The air-conditioned Shedhouse and main house(Blackwattle Ridge) share a driveway and garden, a 1.5 acre safe dingo-proof home-paddock for kids and pets. If we are home, we are in the main house. If not, there may be guests in the main house as well. The cosy apartment, with pot bellied stove and unlimited wood, is part of a larger shed complex, where we lived while building our house. It's a very simply designed cottage with a full kitchen. We do hope it will give you TIME. Time either to read a book or explore this lovely area, which, as escaped Sydneysiders, we chose as the most beautiful countryside anywhere within 3 hours of Sydney. The bedrooms, with gorgeous views across the valleys, have vertical blinds for sleeping-in if you wish and in winter the pot-bellied stove is a winner. You'll have access to the whole of the apartment, which is part of the shed/ garage complex, and the 1.5 acre garden/home paddock, as well as the 40 acres of bushland. There's a carport for one car beside the front door. There's plenty of room to park for a second car, as long as you leave the circular driveway clear for others to get their cars in and out. We'd love to help with anything you need and guide you as to the great options available. If we're not in town (we are often away exploring Australia) our friend Terri will show you around and will always be on the mobile for any help you need. Dungog is a quirky, heritage-listed country town with a fast-growing artistic community who have all chosen it for its incredible beauty and heritage. There's always something to do - swimming in the local rivers or the Dungog Swimming Pool, or hiking into the Gondwana rainforests of the vast Barrington Tops, just a short drive away. There are seven coffee shops in town, a pub and the open air Tin Shed Brewery, more and more famous for its unique craft beer, made on the spot. Stella's Restaurant is great dining on Friday and Saturday evenings and there's an Italian restaurant with excellent pizzas. We can send you in the right direction, just say what you like... The train trip direct from Sydney to Dungog takes around 3.5 hours and is very very pleasant, with large picture window and stunning scenery on the way. You will need a car if you want to get around. There is no public transport in Dungog, but there is a taxi, the 'Sparrowmobile' Because the home-paddock of the property is surrounded by a dingo fence, the gate to the home paddock, when shut, makes the property great for kids and pets, who have plenty of space to roam at leisure, and safely. This space is shared with the main house, Blackwattle Ridge, so consideration of others is appreciated. With the rest of NSW we are affected by the mouse plague. It's vastly improved with our strenuous efforts, but many apologies if you do spy a mouse somewhere on the property
