The Chalet is a self-contained wood-built cabin in the grounds of Haven View, perched on the side of the valley and overlooking the dramatic cliffs and beach of Crackington Haven. If you feel like joining in and enjoying the activities, cafes or pub, it's only a 2 minute walk away, or you can sit out on the veranda listening to the sounds of the sea and just watch! Also a great base for some coast path walking, with some challenging but spectacular cliff walks straight from the door. Private, self-catering wood-built Chalet. Open plan layout with kitchen, dining and comfortable lounge areas. Independent pathway from road. Dual aspect full-height sliding glass doors for stunning views. Level decking veranda with lounger chairs. Comfortably furnished lounge area. Wood Burner and underfloor heating for the colder seasons. Fully equipped kitchen. Oven, hob, microwave and Belfast sink. Full range of utensils, crockery and cutlery. Dining table and bench seating area. Modern bathroom with roll-top bath, shower. Separate double bedroom. Linen & towels provided. Mobile phone signal can be patchy due to geography but good free WiFi is provided. Extra warm blankets provided, just in case you want to sit outside under the starry skies (no light pollution here!) Dedicated parking space to front of main house. We will normally leave you alone to relax and enjoy your stay how you want, however, we are happy to make ourselves easily available should you have any questions or needs. The main house is just up the path and one of us is never far away should we be needed on site. Crackington Haven is in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), is SSSI designated, due to the interesting geology, and is of course on one of the most rugged, beautiful and sometimes challenging coastal path sections, overlooking secluded coves, dramatic cliffs and harbouring copious wildlife too. The beach is dynamic and changes shape with each tide, normally having a shingle top section but changing to more sandy and flat as the tide goes out. During the summer season (July -September) there are RNLI lifeguards stationed to keep an eye on everything. The beach is rated Excellent by the Marine Conservation Society. There are two cafes serving locally-sourced food and drinks and The Coombe Barton Inn pub is also open for excellent food and drinks too. There are tennis courts just above the beach, possibly the ones with the most stunning location and views while playing in the country! By road, Tintagel and its castle are not far down the coast, along with the small villages of Boscastle and the now 'Doc Martin' famous Port Isaac. Going north, the surfing beaches of Widemouth and Bude are only minutes away and there's an excellent family-owned independent cinema on the Bude road too. The sea plays a major part of the draw of course, and many centres for taking part in activities where new skills can be learned and enjoyed, such as surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering, can be enjoyed. Heading inland there are more stunning walks among the granite tors and uplands of Bodmin Moor with many little hamlets seemingly hidden away from the rest of the world to explore on the way. There is a bus stop in the Haven, many walkers take advantage of it dropping them off somewhere along the coastal route and enjoying the walk home. It is also a stop for other more inland routes to Truro and Launceston. Crackington Haven is on the Coastal Path, so of course serves as a stop or starting point for that, but there are also other walks to take without having to drive anywhere in and around the local valleys and woods. For the cyclists, the road into Crackington is a small detour off the NCN3 coastal cycle route and be easily rejoined after your break. Updates to availability settings due to COVID19 mean that we now specify one clear night between guest stays and we have now moved to self-check-in as standard, rather than meeting you ourselves as we used to do. We operate the Flexible Cancellations policy, meaning that you are able to cancel, without penalty from us, if the circumstances of your ability to travel change up to two days before the booking. By the nature of the typical north Cornish landscape, the chalet is located on the sides of the two steep hills down to sea level, so the walk back up to the chalet, and from the parking is of course steep too.
