Bring your pet to play with the hosts' 2 very friendly dogs - Ruby and Raven. "The Hut" is in a convenient location to Geelong, Ballarat/Sovereign Hill and Daylesford. It'll take approx. 30 minutes scenic drive through beautiful countryside to get to those places. A unique country retreat to relax and unwind. Experience this fully renovated old galvanised iron hay shed that is fully self contained with a large rustic outdoor entertainment area that has an open fireplace and outdoor fire pit. There are plenty of activities to do during the day. Check out the surrounding towns such as the historic Steiglitz, bush walking or mountain bike riding in the lush Brisbane ranges, or simply sit by one of the open fire places on the property to relax in winter. In summer, enjoy sitting on the banana lounges to sun bake and read a book or simply enjoy the fresh country air and walk amongst the trees. You will see many birds, kangaroos and if you are a good spotter, a koala or two on the many gum trees found on the property. This property also offers an outdoor sauna, however, due to the current Covid-19 hygiene reason, this will not be offered at this point in time. This property is also perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. On a clear night, you can lie on the grass and watch beautiful stars in the sky. The sunset in this property is breath taking. Pack a picnic basket and a rug to watch it. It will be an experience like no other. The host will be available to ensure you enjoy your stay. How much interaction you want to have with the host is entirely up to you. If you want complete privacy, you will be left alone. Geoff the host is a keen mountain bike rider, so if you would like to explore on your bike, please check with him to organize for a ride around the bush. The property is located within the "Golden Triangle" we are situated between Geelong, Daylesford and Ballarat. We are only minutes to the historical towns of Steiglitz, the Brisbane Ranges and Meredith. Steiglitz is an old gold mining town that offers walking tracks, you can visit the old Courthouse and other old buildings within the tiny township. The Brisbane Ranges has many picnic grounds and walking tracks. Meredith is only 8 minutes drive from the property, and the corner store at Meredith offers barista made coffee, a big selection of yummy cakes and "tuck shop" style takeaway food. A short stroll from the corner shop is the "Rustic Ram Cafe", and it offers woodfire pizzas to eat in or takeaway. If you are after some local produce, try the Farm Gate Shop in Elaine to get your BBQ meat , fresh veggies, gourmet fine ice cream from Timboon and Meredith's fine goat cheeses. It is around 10 minutes drive from the property. If you want to be a bit adventurous, consider hiring some "E" Mountain Bikes and ride the nearby Brisbane ranges that are on the doorstep of your stay. Simply book your bikes 3 days before your stay. The "Rent My Bike" company will deliver your bikes to our property. Contact your host if interested and they will send you the link to the "Rent My Bike" website. Your host will provide you with a guide to riding tracks within the Brisbane Ranges, even ride with you and show you some tracks if interested. There are plenty to do around the area. Some suggestions below: You can plan your day trip to Daylesford for some body pampering massages in the morning following with lovely lunch. Do book ahead so that you are not disappointed, then come back to the hut to relax in front of the fire on the cool nights. If you check out on Sunday, why not head to Daylesford Sunday's trash and treasure market near the railway station before you head home? If you like truffles, why not also plan to head to the Black Cat Truffles (150 Howards Rd, Wattle Flat. Approx. 50 minutes' drive) and join in the fun of truffles hunt and light lunch? All places around the area can be easily accessed by vehicle. You can cycle to the Brisbane Rangers and Steiglitz. If you are looking for a special experience the host offers to chauffeur you and your partner in this amazing 1954 classic 2 door Chrysler. We offer a minimum 3 hour booking at $300. Each extra hour block over the 3 hours is charged at $110. You can simply go for a country drive, visit a winery for lunch or any destination of your choice. Bookings and payment must be made 3 days prior to your stay. For guests wanting to enjoy a fire, you are welcome to bring your own fire wood if you wish. Otherwise 1 wheel barrow load can be supplied by the host at an extra cost of $45.00 - cash or bank transfer.
