Settled into the hillside with open spaces in front and wild young woodland behind, Rose Chalet is based in a magical rural valley adjoining Cornwalls outstanding Area of Natural Beauty of the Helford Estuary, yet connected by a short bus ride to the bubbling town of Falmouth with its 3 train stations, ferries and fabulous variety of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. This area is home to some of Cornwall's most beautiful gardens - Trelissick, Trebah and Glendurgan are all within a 10 - 20 minute drive. in a wildlife haven close to the outstanding beauty of the Helford Estuary, coast paths, beaches and tropical gardens. Guests are welcome to enjoy meandering paths through the self-wilded woods, listening to birdcall, spotting barn-owls and bats at dusk, visiting our traditional Mongolian Yurts beautifully hand-painted and furnished as a workshop/treatment/meditation space and also available to hire as self-contained accommodation. hand-made benches are tucked away in restful spaces under the trees and at the top of the hill for panoramic views and to watch the sunset across the valley. Guests can use the picnic table on the main grassy area in front of the house, and in the woodland clearing. Once our new lawn is established you will also be able to visit the stone circle and fire pit at the top of the hill. We have our own sustainable fire-wood for you to purchase to use in the BBQ fire-baskets, or sit out by the fire under the stars. Or we can provide an evening experience of campfire with foraged foods and toasted marshmallows, by arrangement. With no light pollution, this is a magical space for star-gazing, deep silence and cheerful conversation! We are happy to work with you to create a bespoke retreat, for example, with morning yoga, voice-workshops, creative activities, coaching, foraging, traditional hedgerow wine-and beer-making, or local guided visits. We are equally happy for you to come and stay without needing our interaction! By foot, a short walk along footpaths over 3 fields, our closest treasure is the Potager gardens and cafe - fabulous high quality food served in a restored giant greenhouse. Another mile and you will arrive in the village of Constantine with two local shops, one of which is famous for its enormous collection of whiskeys and spirits. The village has a church, school, doctor's surgery and community centre, pop-up food, and the popular creek-side pub at Trengilly Wartha. We are just over a mile from Port Navas, a charming creek into the Helford, and within easy range of some great beaches with sand, rock-pooling, swimming, water-sports or just a BBQ or cafe on the beach... within a 15 minute drive or short bus ride you can visit hidden coves on the estuary, walk the South West coastal path, or enjoy the sands of Maenporth , Swanpool and Gillyngvase (known locally as 'Gilly') beach. This is a wonderful base for exploring SW Cornwall, with the famous gardens of Trelissick, Trebah and Glendurgan all within a 10 -20 minute drive. The Cornwall Beaches website is a good local guide to facilities, tides, parking etc for the 43 beautiful beaches of the Helford area (from Falmouth to the Lizard, ie within 10-40 minutes drive on the South Coast) - and many more if you want to go further afield in Cornwall... The unique geology, moorland and rocky coves of the Lizard Peninsula, the Southernmost part of the Uk, famous for its green-red Serpentine rock (and scrumptious Cornish ice cream!) is just over the Helford river, a quarter to half hour drive by car or bus. Further afield, in an hour you can explore Penzance, St Ives, St Agnes heritage coast, and the surfing destination of Newquay (complete with airport...) On-site parking.
