Cervo is an Italian municipality in the province of Imperia. Located near the final stretch of the "Cervo" stream, it gently slopes down to the Ligurian Sea and is the first municipality in the renowned Riviera dei Fiori. Inhabited since the prehistoric age by the Ligurian Ingauni and following the Roman invasion in 181a. c., the primitive village, became an important center, thanks to its strategic position and the presence of some springs. Rich in history, Cervo presents architecture from various eras including the parish church of "San Giovanni Battista", which stands imposing above the hill. It is also known as "Chiesa dei Corallini", as it is erected thanks to the proceeds of coral fishing. A country rich in culture suitable for those who want to enjoy a peaceful holiday. Deer and music. In 1964 the Hungarian vionist Sandor Vegh fell in love with the Chiesa dei Corallini and the extraordinary acoustics of the place. He managed to convince the municipal administration in what then seemed to be a titanic undertaking, but which over time has become one of the most famous and long-lived summer festivals on the national scene. On the churchyard stage of the International Chamber Music Festival of Cervo, dominated by the soft pastel colors and the Rococo stuccos of the façade of the Church of St. Giovanni Battista, they have played all the greats of classical international music and not just the stars of our house. Among the latter, we recall, however, Uto Ughi, Benedetto Michelangeli, Salvatore Accardo and Severino Gazzelloni. Over the years, the relationship between Cervo and music has become closer and more fruitful, also thanks to other satellite festivals dedicated to specific instruments and musical genres. The Summer Academy held at the end of August, draws hundreds of young musicians from all over the world for almost twenty years.
