Waterside cottage with amazing views & use of boat
This cottage is set right by the waters edge of the Teign estuary with neighbours either side. It is a bird watchers paradise and is just a short 2 minute walk to the local pub that serves food all day. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, rolling Devon hills and beaches 10 minutes away by car. It’s the perfect place to relax. This cottage is set in a unique location ideal for anyone who wants to be surrounded by birdlife, likes fishing, walking or wants to indulge in windsurfing or kayaking as it all goes on right in front of the cottage. Due to steps to access the property it may not be suitable for everyone. Please ask if you need more information. The cottage living area is open plan. The front of the cottage has glass sliding doors and windows to make the most of the spectacular views with wide wooden steps leading straight on to the foreshore. It also has a woodburner, a sofa and two armchairs, a tv and free wifi. In the kitchen area there is an Esse electric cooker similar to an Aga and a dishwasher, plenty of cooking utensils and a round dining table with 4 chairs. The bathroom has a freestanding bath with a hand shower unit for washing hair. Bedroom one has two windows that look out towards the estuary and a comfortable large double with Eygptian cotton bedding. Bedroom two has two twins and it has access to a raised outside patio area that is enclosed and private and has a new summerhouse and looks out over the estuary once again. . Up several concrete steps from the front door there’s a back garden too with flowers and a bench, this year I have allowed it to become a wild flower area, a haven for bees and butterflies. From here you can walk through the neighbours land to beautiful walks or along the foreshore for the same. There are two pubs, one 3 minutes walk away and one 20 minutes walk away. Parking is in the nearest pubs car park so if you have difficulty walking this may not be suitable for you as you have to walk over uneven ground for a couple of minutes. Shaldon beach is 10 minutes in the car or 30 minutes walk with several cafes and a small zoo plus a smugglers tunnel that leads to a sandy cove backed by cliffs or Maidencombe is 10 minutes the other direction by car and has a pub in the village plus a cafe at the beach, lots of steps to get to the beach here. The cottage is completely your own and you will be left to enjoy the space. I can be contacted via the telephone if you need any help but am 40 minutes away by car. Offers so many things, walking on Dartmoor, visiting beaches, gourmet restaurants and local traditional pubs. Fishing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, windsurfing and paddle boarding are all indulged in on the estuary. At low tide you will see birds galore and at high tide expect the water to come right to the property’s wall! Theres a wealth of places to visit including Shaldon which is easily walkable along the foreshore at low tide or the road at high tide in less than 30 minutes. It is a very pretty village on the seafront. Teignmouth is another 10 minutes on across the bridge and is well known for its regular live music. Several restaurants serve an array of cuisines. Totnes is a vibrant arty town with lots of individual shops a plus a great Friday and Saturday market and only a 30 minute drive away. This home is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties and children must be supervised at all times if the french door are open and the tide is in as the water comes directly up to the building.
