Lakeside Cottage

Kia ora! Welcome to Lakeside Cottage. Here you’ll have your own self-contained apartment—part of our house but completely private. Enjoy your own deck with a lake view. Relax in the spacious living/dining area with a gas fire, flatscreen TV with Chromecast, Netflix, ultra-fast unlimited wifi, a conservatory with all-day sun, and a super-king bed in your bedroom with ensuite. The kitchenette is equipped with fridge, microwave, double ceramic cooktop, kettle, toaster, and utensils. A 2-minute stroll takes you to Ōpunakē beach, a popular swimming and surf spot. The surf breaks along this coastline are world famous! Go fishing, play a round of golf, take a dip in the local indoor swimming pool, see a movie at Everybody’s Theatre, or visit one of the many art galleries, restaurants, and cafes. An 8km walking track with spectacular views takes you around the lake and to the beach, Te Namu pā, several historical sites, a clifftop garden, and through native bush. The ever-changing views of Mount Taranaki are stunning, and you’re just a 35-minute drive away from the mountain itself. A 45-minute coastal drive takes you to New Plymouth for a spot of shopping, a visit to Puke Ariki museum, or a wander through the Len Lye Centre. Due to a small number of stairs on the deck and the shower accessibility - the space is not suitable for someone who is permanently wheelchair bound. We like to give our guests privacy, but we are always available, and happy to help if you have any queries. Quiet neighbourhood. 2 minute walk to the beach, and the lake walkway is right beside the house. The apartment is one half of our home, and as mentioned, is private and self-contained. You might hear us going to work and cooking meals etc, but we are very aware of respecting your comfort.
