Charming French Gite The Cottage

Gîte 1, The Cottage, sleeps 4 people. The gite has 1 double bed in the main bedroom and 2 singles in the second bedroom. The gîte is fully furnished and has all modern fixtures and fittings. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooker and oven and all the pans and utensils Poitou-Charente has so much to offer the visitor with so much to see and do and enjoy. Just bring yourself and your suitcase. We provide a pack of extra cleaning supplies so you can clean and sanitize as you stay. The Gîtes at Le Bois de l'Eglise are contained within a tastefully renovated typical Charentais farmhouse complex. We have a boule court in our garden for guests to use. We will be present during your stay to provide any assistance or help you may need. Le Bois de l'Eglise is a tiny hamlet close to the village of Villiers le Roux in the commune of Villefagnan in south West France. It is near to the town of Ruffec with its supermarkets, biweekly market, shops, cafés and public amenities. The location is rural countryside retreat perfect for cycling and walking. Le Bois de l'Église is perfectly placed to visit the attractions of Poitou-Charente. Close by are the picturesque villages of Verteuil-sur-Charente and Nanteuil-en-Vallée with their excellent restaurants. There is a swimming lake in Villefagnan about 15 minutes drive away. Ruffec, the closest town, has a tourist information office, shops, restaurants and cafés. There is a market every Wednesday and Saturday. You really need access to a car for your stay. You can hire at the railway station in Ruffec or at the local airports. By Train. Ruffec Station, 15 minutes away by car, is on the TGV mainline linking Paris to Bordeaux. Car hire and taxis are available in Ruffec. By Plane:- Poitiers (40 minutes drive), Angouleme (35 minutes drive), Limoges (1.5 hours). Car hire is available at the airports. By Car:- 6¼ hours from Calais, 4 hours from Le Havre, 7 hours for Zeebrugge. We have a no pets and no smoking policy. Duvets, bed-linen and house towels per person are provided, but guests are requested to bring their own pool/beach towels. The gîtes are cleaned and fresh bed-linen and towels renewed before each occupancy. For longer stays, bed linen and towels are changed weekly. There is a wood burner in the open plan lounge and electric wall heaters in the bedrooms. Our gites are in a rural area and we have 4G internet. This means that sometimes we have slow connectivity due to weather conditions or internet traffic. Please do not expect the same speed you would get in bigger towns and cities. For any rainy days, board games and a selection of DVD films and TV series are available. Complementary coffee, tea, Nespresso capsules and sugar are provided free of charge. Evening meals can be provided for that special occasion or after a tiring day out and about by arrangement. For your safety a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and first aid are in each gîte. There are some low beams and quirky doors in the properties which guests need to be aware of and these will be pointed out on arrival. The property is situated on a quiet lane with very little passing traffic. The main garden is on the opposite side of lane where barbecue/eating/lounging areas have been laid out.
