This is a family-run homestay in the ancient village of Heini, in the foothills of the Himalayan Dhauladhar range. The guesthouse is situated above Dharamsala and McLeodganj and is an ideal base for trekking, excursions, and exploring the locality. The surroundings are stunning. The guesthouse is suitable for adventurous travellers who enjoy nature, do not want to be in the centre of town and are happy to do some walking. Home-cooked breakfast and dinner available at an additional charge! We have one superior second-floor room with attached bathroom, private balcony and kitchenette and also use of shared guest kitchen. Breakfast and traditional Himachali home-cooked dinners can be provided at an extra charge. In addition to their private rooms, all guests have access to our common kitchen and huge terraces. The atmosphere is welcoming - the two brothers who own the guest house live on-site with their families - but guests may also enjoy privacy as they wish, sitting out on our huge terraces. Heini is a friendly, ancient Gaddi village, founded on farming and shepherding. The guesthouse is situated above Dharamsala and McLeodganj - the home of the Dalai Lama - and is an ideal base for trekking, excursions, and exploring the locality. The views and natural surroundings are stunning, with diverse flora and fauna, including kites, monkeys and mongooses. The village fields are farmed organically, with a yearly rotation of mustard, barley, maize and courgette, as well as potato, onion and garlic. The guesthouse is a 15-minute drive up from McLeodganj, along tarmac and concrete roads and a rough, narrow jeep road. This is followed by a five to ten-minute walk through the village and fields, so please be prepared for some exercise during your stay. The guesthouse is not suitable for guests who wish to be in the centre of town. There are a few small cafes/shops five to ten minutes' walk away, but the main markets and restaurants are in Bhagsu, McLeodganj and Dharamkot. We offer a minimum stay of two nights. Our rooms do not have TVs and, besides breakfast and evening meals, we do not provide room service (although lunch can be provided by arrangement). We do offer wi-fi service.
