Welcome to the Beehive! A recently refurbished one bedroom self contained annex in the heart of the Forest of Dean. The perfect base to relax after exploring the forest, or sitting with a drink on the patio, listening to the steam train in the distance . There is so much to do in the forest and the best part is that most of it is within walking or cycling distance from The Beehive! You are welcome to bring or hire bikes as we supply a lock and chains to keep them secure. The Beehive is a self contained annex attached to our home, you have everything you need to enjoy your time here, including full cooking facilities should you wish. We are very lucky in the village to have a great local pub, which serves local food and drink, as well as a Chinese takeaway, a 2 minute walk away. Within a short walk or cycle to Parkend, we have two other great pubs, the Fountain and the Woodman, which we both highly recommend. A local post office also serves breakfast and lunch. A five minute drive away is Lydney, our local town which offers a multitude of food options, local shops and supermarkets along with multiple takeaways that will deliver to The Beehive. Within walking distance is a great cycle hire company and café (Dean Forest Cycles). It's a beautiful walk through the forest to collect them or a short drive. These can be securely stored at the Beehive with chains supplied and a metal gate to attach them too. If you would like a food shop delivered (after 11am) on the day in advance of you arriving, please let us know when and we will put this away for you. We cannot guarantee this due to our own availability, so please let us know before booking your delivery. Free on road parking available directly outside the property. You have complete private use of the space. The entrance is through a shared utility room. If you wish to use the washing machine or tumble drier, please let us know. Our honesty bar is also located here - be sure to check it out! My husband and I live next door, so happy to assist or welcome you if you'd prefer. You can reach us anytime by phone, text, email or feel free to knock nextdoor. My husband and I only moved to the area in early 2021, we were drawn to the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery and having so much to do on our doorstep, a small sample of this is below. Access to the forest itself is approximately a 90 second walk from The Beehive! We are very lucky in the village to have a great pub, which serves local food and drink, as well as a Chinese takeaway, a 2 minute walk away. Bikes or motorbikes can be securely stored at the Beehive, with two high rated chains and padlocks supplied and a metal gate to attach them too. We have the local station to the Dean Forest heritage railway behind the local pub. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Nags Head RSPB nature reserve is nearby together with Cannop Ponds. Cannop Ponds cycle centre and "Peddle a bike away" are only 4 miles away where bike hire is also available. Or maybe you'd prefer to go canoeing on the River Wye? Canoe hire is available at Symonds Yat, only a 30 minute drive away. If you are feeling more adventurous Go Ape and Segway hire are available at Mallard's Pike. Beechenhurst offers a beautiful sculpture trail, along with a cafe only 4 miles away. If you fancy a relaxing and different experience, why not try Float in the Forest, a flotation centre within walking distance.  At Taurus Crafts in Lydney you could try a hand at pottery or perhaps make your own jewellery, there is a lot more on offer including a restaurant. Visit Clearwell Caves and go deep into the caves which were ancient iron mines or go for a walk in Puzzle Wood and experience its mystical and magical surroundings. There is also a National Diving centre, 20 minutes away which offers activities such as a zip wire and abseiling. As you can tell, the list could go on and on as there is so much to do and see here in the Forest of Dean. Why not come and see for yourself,  we look forward to meeting you. You can reach a lot of the forest on foot or by bicycle from The Beehive, but there are regular buses going through the village. One will take you to Lydney, where they have a mainline railway station. If you have any questions, comments, feedback, big or small, please let us know and we will be more than happy to help or resolve any issues.
