Set in the picturesque Wye Valley in Tintern, an Area Of Outstanding Beauty (AOOB), sits our spacious 4 bedroom stone house that sits on the banks of the river with uninterrupted and far-reaching views, in both directions of the river. Perfect spot in Wales for fishing. If you are active and enjoy hiking along the Wye valley walk, Offa's Dyke, cycling, cross country running, fishing, canoeing -this is all on the doorstep. Otherwise just sit and gaze at the stunning views in every direction. The house is our home and in a very special place of beauty. Originally built around 1790 as four tiny cottages, it was renovated in the 80’s by a local architect who made it his home and practice. Since then it has had a few changes but remains an incredible open plan and spacious (as now four cottages have become one) home. Nestled in the valley a short stroll from Tintern Abbey, the Wye valley walk takes you up to Devils Pulpit so that you can perch like a bird looking down over the Abbey. Or just ramble along the river to the old Tintern rail station where there is a cafe, and play area and often music and a mini train for kids to ride in summer months. You can get away from technology if you prefer but we do offer Wifi, and a TV on demand, or you can use the local pubs wifi and the Eco wifi cafe in the next village of Brockweir for free (maybe price of a coffee) but that's the whole point- it's so great to leave that all on the other side of the old Severn bridge and surround yourself in the changing seasons and tranquility of the valley. There are many opportunities for Wild Swimming in the area, depending on ability, just head to Redbrooke by the Boat Pub, or Skenfrith by the castle on the Monnow River, and around Monmouth at Tregate Bridge. There is also canoe and paddleboard hire at Symonds Yat and in Tintern at the Wye valley experience with bike hire too and classes for beginners. Bike hire is available in the Forest of Dean with fantastic cycle routes of varying difficulty. Also there’s the sculpture trail there. Clearwell caves is also a fun destination. We will greet and meet you and show you around the house and answer any questions for your trip. Then you can enjoy the house and the area. Bristol is 30 minutes, Cardiff 45 minutes, Abergavenny an hour and London 2 1/2 hours away. Otherwise locally Chepstow (5 miles away) is the nearest town which has a historic fortress of a castle to walk round and you can get provisions from the large Tescos and M&S or the local farm shops. Monmouth is in the other direction and about 8 miles away and has lots of coffee shops, unique boutique and food shops (Lidl and Waitrose). As far as pubs there are many with gardens for kids to play in Tintern (the Anchor, the Wild Hare, and Ofcourse the famous Parva farmhouse now has the Walnut Tree chef running the place, so top notch food there) or for local beers try the Boat Inn at Redbrooke which has a great atmosphere and often a local band playing. For great food try the Ostrich at Newlands. There are so many great pubs in the area. If cycling is your thing the safe off road tracks in the Forest of Dean, half hour away, are a must or a walk in the sculpture park. Canoeing classes take place at Symonds Yat or walk up to Yat Rock and see the far reaching views from there and often view nesting birds of prey from there. If you’re a keen fishing person there are lots of opportunities on the river (with a license) and a local fishing club. If you need a change of scene as a working break, this is an ideal place to use for it as the whole village has 4G now and we have fast Wi-fi connection in the house. There's really something for everyone. You will access the whole house and garden, except the garage and storage areas. We will meet and greet you and show you around so that you are comfortable and know your way around the house such as Wi-fi, heating, hot water and wood. Otherwise I am at the end of the phone or email if there are any further questions. I would appreciate you letting me know when you depart so that cleaners can do their part. Keys will be collected. I love the Eco Cafe in Brockweir which has a great cafe, play area and food. Theres a vineyard with award winning wine in Tintern to taste and purchase. Favourite pubs are the Boat Inn in Redbrooke for atmosphere and local beer and The Ostrich in Newlands for food. But the pubs in Tintern are all decent, and offer food, such as the Anchor by the Tintern Abbey, the Rose and Crown along the river and Wye valley Pub and Hotel is a stones throw across the road too which is awash with colourful flowers. To be able to walk out your door and have such amazing walks right there is truly amazing. The changing seasons in the valley never fail to take my breath away. The walk from White Rock to Cleddon Falls and down to Llandogo and back is stunning. Bristol is a 30 minute drive, Cardiff is 45 minutes, the Gower 3 hours, London 2 1/2hrs. The nearest town is Chepstow 5 miles away and there is a large Tescos and M&S there for provisions. Monmouth is a little further, maybe 8 miles and theres a Lidl, Waitrose and M&S plus lots of other unique little shops. The 69 bus goes from Chepstow to Tintern to Monmouth so timetables are available and the service ends quite early in the evening. Its best to being a car for more freedom. Wi-fi should be fast
