This beautiful farmhouse has recently undergone extensive renovation, it offers the modern touches required for ease and comfort yet retains the charm and authenticity of a spacious old french farmhouse. Decorated to a very high standard, it includes 4 spacious bedrooms, two sitting rooms, one of which is a family TV room and the other has an open fire and patio doors leading onto the terrace and pool area, large well equipped modern kitchen diner, three bathrooms (one of which is en suite) ground floor cloakroom and wc. The grounds include a private pool, pool terrace with purpose built stone BBQ and large well maintained gardens which surround the property, in addition there is a large open traditional stone barn, which is a lovely place to read and relax away from the sun. Les Abelins is large enough for 2 families to holiday and be together as it offers large communal space for everyone to enjoy being together, yet it also has quieter spaces for those who occasionally want a bit of peace and quiet, to read, listen to music and perhaps enjoy a cheeky glass of wine. Being situated on the edge of the old market town of Saint Savinien we are within a short walk of bars, restaurants, shops, art galleries and not forgetting of course the magnificent river Charente. We are fortunate to have so many things to do and places to visit locally to us, the following are just a few examples; Horse riding at our local stables Canoeing and Kayaking Water skiing locally Hire a boat from Les Canotiers in St Savinien, from and hour to a full day, take a picnic and explore this beautiful river. Cycling, bike hire available locally, cycle along the Charente and enjoy our beautiful countryside Chateaux, Roche Courban, Panloy, Crazannes (the setting for Puss in Boots)! A little further afield, Aquarium at La Rochelle, this is one of the largest Aquariums in Europe and despite living here for 15 years we still visit every year! Zoo La Palmyre Puy de Fou, well worth the trip, plan your day and prepare to be amazed. We are close to the stunning Atlantic coast and less than 30 minutes to the nearest beach and with over 100 miles of breathtaking coast line we are spoilt for choice. The chic city of La Rochelle is 45 minutes away, a must for 'foodies', also the roman town of Saintes, historic naval port of Rochefort are both within 20 minutes of the property. Les Abelins comfortably sleeps 8 adults, we can however accomodate up 2 additional children, there is a supplement for additional guests
