Large windows with block-out blinds allow guests to enjoy the farm views. A light breakfast is provided in the fully equipped kitchen. Tea, coffee & milk are also provided. If you are needing groceries, it is suggested you visit a supermarket prior to arriving as the closest supermarket is in Benalla, 25 minutes away. The separate bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed with electric blankets for the chilly winter nights. All linen, bedding & towels are supplied. The well equipped bathroom, with washing machine, has everything you need for a longer stay. The pull-out sofa in the main area is suitable for a child or one adult. A portable cot is available on request. The covered verandah outside the back door has a BBQ & seating where guests can enjoy the views or sit around the fire-pit in the winter months under the stars. Your pet will be safe in the enclosed yard. Ample parking is available beside the cottage leading to the enclosed yard, verandah & back door. There is also a separate front entrance. Sensor & solar lights illuminate the way. We respect the privacy of our guests but we are in the farmhouse next door or can be contacted by phone if anything is needed. Major Plains was a small settlement in the late 1800's. Our farmhouse was built by the original owner, a Blacksmith from Yorkshire, England, in the 1880's & Wanamara Farm was the site of the Blacksmith & General Stores. The farming land in the district is now mostly used for cropping. We have been breeding our stud Australian Lowline cattle for over 26 years. The occasional mooing of cows or barking of dogs when foxes are around will be the only noises you will hear. The magpies, cockatoos, corellas, wrens & many other feathered bird varieties are plentiful throughout the year. We have a very energetic kelpie, two smaller dogs & three cats living with us. Two friendly sheep, Furphy & Vic will come up for a pat if you have some hay for them. Guests are welcome to enjoy our farm but are asked to keep pets on a leash while outside the accommodation. It is suggested you keep to the laneways as some fencing is electrified. If gates are shut, gates should be closed once you have passed through them so we don't have any escapees.
