This lovingly updated 18th Century cottage is found in the picturesque village of St Just-in-Roseland, only a couple of miles from the beaches and sailing waters of St Mawes on the beautiful Roseland peninsula. Fine sandy beaches, sheltered creeks and coastal walks abound, with a host of gastronomic village pubs and fine dining restaurants to experience at the end of each exciting and eventful day. Red Cottage is a delightful terraced family home with a big, dual-aspect sitting-room complete with wood-burner and a lovely kitchen/dining-room with a rustic dining-table to gather around. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a family bathroom with a free-standing, claw-foot bath and a separate shower-room with a drench-head shower. A big, level garden, fully enclosed by high sheltering walls, has grass for children's games and a raised deck with dining-table, chairs and outdoor sofa – a lovely spot for meals. There are numerous walks nearby, with the coastal footpath passing through the village, wending its way north towards the King Harry Ferry and south to St Mawes. The beautiful 13th Century village church is just a stroll away, set in fabulous sub-tropical gardens beside a tranquil tidal creek, ideal for launching paddleboards and kayaks. Red Cottage is a delight. A much cherished and recently refurbished cottage that will suit families, walkers, dog owners, gardeners and gastronomes alike. Stylish and comfortable, this is a relaxed and friendly place to stay. Two double bedrooms (one king-size and one with 'zip and link' beds) and a twin room share the well-appointed bath and shower rooms and with two separate sitting-areas downstairs and a convivial kitchen/dining-room, there's space to spread out. Families are made welcome with a travel cot, high chair and stair-gate provided, and a well-behaved dog is welcome too. The garden is fully enclosed and safe, with plenty of space for games. There are coastal footpaths to explore, beaches for sandcastle building and rock pooling, plenty of dining experiences – from friendly local pubs to fine dining at renowned restaurants at the Tresanton Hotel, Idle Rocks and Rosevine – and easy access to other parts of Cornwall. St Mawes is just down the road offering pubs, restaurants, shops and galleries, with daily ferries sailing to Falmouth and boat trips and fishing expeditions in warmer months. The nearby King Harry Ferry crosses the River Fal to the house and grounds of the National Trust's Trelissick estate, with easy access from here to Truro, Falmouth, the sub-tropical gardens on the Helford River and the north coast surfing beaches. There is parking right outside the cottage on the extra wide pavement and a small village car park (free to use) directly across the road. I will be available on the phone during your stay. The village of St Just in Roseland is located about 2 miles north of St Mawes. A small village, it has a pretty creek and the quite delightful church and wonderful churchyard. No visit to the Roseland is complete without seeing this peaceful place. Probably the only sub tropical churchyard in the British Isles, it is a beautiful & tranquil place with some unique flora. The creek is home to a boatyard and not much else! Although the beaches are of shingle, you can reach some great sunbathing spots from here with some wonderful views over the water towards Mylor.Nearby, you can explore the D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Bar and nearby Smugglers Cottage which also houses a little display. It is also is one of the best spots in the area for a cream tea!! The walks around Messack Point on the north side of St Just in Roseland Creek offer some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads. The tiny tranquil Cornish village of Philleigh is nearby and is famous for its sixteenth cetury pub, The Roseland Inn. Portscatho & St Mawes are also within 10 minutes of Carvinack and offer some lovely beaches & plenty of watersports.Portscatho has a good general store, a Post Office plus a couple of pubs & restaurants at the nearby hotels. St Mawes has plenty of facilities including a few hotels with fine restaurants including the famous Hotel Tresanton, plus a few pubs, a good Co-op general store, a butchers, chemist & post office. A car is needed, the cottage is situated in a quiet village near the sea with limited public transport.
