Cosy little cottage in Shaftesbury

My cottage is tucked away within walking distance of the centre of Shaftesbury in Dorset. It's near the site of the historic Shaftesbury Abbey, Park Walk with it’s views over the rolling Dorset countryside, Gold Hill - made famous by the much loved (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s Hovis Bread TV commercial - and the hospital. The cottage makes an excellent base from which to explore the borders of beautiful Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset, where the countryside, walking, cycling and dining out opportunities are fantastic. Great for couples, friends, colleagues, individual travellers or for a small family. Please check Government guide lines before you travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The space is a characterful little cottage that comprises a double bedroom upstairs with shower ensuite facilities, plus a cosy single bedroom at ground level that has shower ensuite facilities too. The single bedroom leads off the kitchen, it’s really quite small, and is all the better for it! In the double bedroom, there is just enough space to set-up a travel cot as well. Each ensuite has an electric shower and toilet, I must stress that the cottage does NOT have baths. A cosy living room with underfloor heating and a log burner plus a bright kitchen complete the piece. Facilities include an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washer / dryer. There is a small freezer compartment in the fridge plus a range of cooking implements, crockery, glasses, tea pot and cafetière for your preferences. A Smart TV with terrestrial channels and wifi broadband connectivity allow you to keep in touch with the outside world. A parking space is available at the cottage and it’s perfect for cars. Large vehicles, such as camper vans, will need to be parked in a pay-and-display public car park which is near the town centre and within walking distance - this is as the lane to the cottage is narrow with a few bends. Finally, a few words of caution… the cottage is cosy and has low ceilings in some areas, so taller guests will need to bear this in mind. Those over 6ft / (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) mm will need to stoop (or adopt suitable protective measures!). Guests enjoy a lovely location tucked away in amongst other cottages in a conservation area down a pretty Lane. The town centre amenities are within a short, level walk with beautiful views across the black more vale. Great independent shops, cafés, restaurants and public houses are close by and the town hosts events throughout the year, including markets and festivals for both food and arts. My cottage is easily reached by road and rail. The nearest rail station is Gillingham Dorset around 5 miles / 8 km away, which is on the main line from London Waterloo to Exeter. It also makes a good ‘stopover’ for those travelling towards Devon and Cornwall to the West, or towards the South East of England in the opposite direction. My place is tucked neatly away in a pleasant community, so please respect the neighbours. Please take a peek at your guest resources - under house manual. I’ve put in extra measures to help safeguard myself after your stay, it’s very important in the current COVID climate that this is followed at all cost.
