Happy Sun House is a colourful beach shack perched on top of a hill, looking out to uninterrupted ocean views. Uniquely nestled in a National Park with wildflowers and birds singing all around. A mystical meeting of beach and bush. A cosy and rustic shack not without things we love like, luxury linen sheets and a fully equipped kitchen. Perfectly isolated yet only a short drive to an array of loveable North Coast towns. +30 mins south of Ballina / Byron airport +10 minutes North of Evans Head Happy Sun house... A truly blissful beach shack experience. A place where the sun hits the walls in a most beautiful way Original art by resident artist, Ozzy Wrong and his family scatter the walls. A newly renovated kitchen, bathroom and lighting. Essential is a warm bath whilst wallaby watching and enjoying the simple luxuries that come with winding down. An intentional space to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect to your creativity, gently allowing nature to ground down a busy mind. Guests have full access to all three building structures. + The main house ( 2 bedroom shack with kitchen and lounge / dining ) + bathroom with shower, bath and toilet Seperate to the house + studio One large bedroom with couch and two beds makes for a great place to hang seperate from the main house + 2 X decks around the house and seperate garden area deck plus water take sitting area make for multiple hang spaces + walks around the house exploring national park fire trails and the long expansive beaches + guests do not have access to the shed Admin will be contactable via email or phone during your stay ( for important communication only ) Happy Sun house shares it’s surroundings with mainly wildlife and one other house to the right. ( a vacant block separates the two houses. ) Other than that, it's ocean and National park in all directions ( no other houses in sight ) A short drive away you'll find towns such as Evans Head ( 13 mins drive ) and Ballina ( 25 mins drive ) which are known for their relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. They both have great fish and chip shops, numerous beaches and rivers for exploring. You'll find a delicious meal at venues such as The Evans Head Pub and Sandbar restaurant ( located at main beach surf club ) The neighbouring towns have everything you need in terms of house supplies. Evans Head also has a great skate Park. Broadwater, which is the closest town ( 5 minute drive ) has emergency supplies like milk, bread, cereal and honey. You’ll find items such as these and more at both Petrol stations along with cheap fuel! Broadwater also has a bottle shop, a bowling club and a post office. You will definitely need a car if you want to leave the property. We are a 5 minute drive from the closest service station and 10-15 minutes drive to the closest town ( Evans Head ) // Strictly NO PARTIES or extra guests on the property at any time // TV We intentionally don't have a TV. We hope It encourages book reading and star gazing! Internet There is internet connected. BYO Laptop if you're a movie lover. The modem along with password is in the timber living room cupboard. Water and Power We are privileged to be in a National Park however, we have no connection to town water or electricity. All our water comes from the sky ( via the tank ) and power from the sun ( via solar panels ). We are very proud to say the house is 'off grid' however, this comes with a responsibility to think sustainably. Please do not leave lights, fans and aircon on unnecessarily. IF HEATERS / AIRCON ARE LEFT ON FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR A DAY THE ENTRE SOLAR POWER COULD RUN OUT. That would mean you’d have to wait for the sun to power up the solar panels which could take up to 5 hours of sunlight. Torches and lanterns can be found in the brown cupboard in the living room. We have a high quality filtration system attached to our water mains. The water from all taps are safe to drink. Care should be taken with chemicals entering the system via the sinks, bath and flushing toilet as they can affect our fragile septic system. There is a bin beside the toilet for your convenience to place any items that aren't toilet paper. Garbage Being in a remote area means we don't have a council rubbish collection service. We ask that you please try to limit your waste and separate recycling from general waste. You'll find two small bins in the kitchen cupboard to the right of the oven. One for general waste and the other for recycling. There are two large bins behind the shed for you to leave excess rubbish in. Make sure all rubbish ( aside from recycling ) is in a bin liner and tied up appropriately. NOTE: If more than one wheelie bin of rubbish is left behind, an extra charge of $80 will be required for tip fees. Dunny We have a classic Australiana style ( flushing ) Dunny with the bathroom separate to the house. You need to walk several steps outside to get there. We like to let people know as not everyone appreciates this set up. The Neighbours Happy Sun House is lucky enough to exist in Broadwater National Park. For this reason we have a responsibility to respect our environment and the animal / mammal Neighbours. Broadwater is home to Wallabies, Koalas, Echidna's, Water Dragons, Goannas, and an array of beautiful birds and insects. Be aware to close the garden gates otherwise our Wallaby mates will invite themselves in and chew through the lush garden! We also have two human Neighbours on the right side of the house. They are wonderful people. We respect their solitude. Broadwater is a quiet zone and we ask guests to turn noise down to a minimum after 9pm. Noise travels in the country and we'd like to keep our environment a place of peace and harmony. Mozzies It's best to close the windows in the evening as there will be a few mozzie's around if it’s been raining. ( yes it rains on Happy Sun House sometimes ) Please find mosquito repellent next to the first aid kit above the bin section. Also moths and Insects love our lighting, so will come in and hang out if the doors are left open. Fire: Providing there isn't a fire ban in place, guests may use the indoor fire place and the outdoor fire place on water tank. Care must be taken and outdoor fires must be extinguished before leaving unattended. First Aid There is a kit above the bin in the kitchen equipped with Lotions, creams, antihistamines and nurofen should you need them. Extra guests on the property Please do not invite extra guests to the property unless approved by the admin This is not a party house and noise complaints will be taken very seriously. Kitchen Garden In the fenced off garden we usually have Sage, Thyme, Rosemary, Parsley, Spinach, Fennel and Chillies. Please take what you need of these with the scissors provided. Just remember to close the gate behind you so the creatures don't do the same. Help yourself to anything left in the fridge or cupboard. Please let me know if anything breaks or gets damaged. We will ask you to cover the cost of replacement or repair if this is the case. Extra Food Supplies We are around a 10 minute drive to the closest supermarket which is in Evans Head. You will find most things you need there however, It's best to stock up before you arrive. Trust me, once you arrive, you won't want to leave the bubble! Beach access Please be aware of the fragile ecosystem of the dunes and use the beach track to the west of our house. It's located opposite our neighbour's house. This will take you down a track to a large white sand dune. You then walk over the dune and down to beautiful Broadwater Beach. Try and avoid walking / sliding down the dune directly at the end of the street so as to not put extra stress on the Broadwater erosion situation. Pets No pets are allowed onsite due to the zoning of our property Love and respect We acknowledge the custodians of the lands in which we work, learn and play: The traditional lands of the Wide clan of the Bundjalung nation. We extend our respect to Aboriginal and torres strait islander elders past present and future.
