My home is on a quiet rural lane. Parking is on the lane but safe. The south facing guest room overlooks my garden at the back, and fields at the front. The cottage is light but cosy. It's perfect to relax here in all seasons. Sadly, not suitable for wheelchair access. Convenient for visiting the historic towns of Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings, Tenterden, Great Dixter Gardens and Bodiam Castle. I'm a chef/local food tour guide so happy for you to pre-book these services too! Your bedroom has been recently refurbished, with a spacious ensuite shower room, with comfort height toilet. The bed is comfortable -there is a small armchair and stool, and there is space to comfortably put 1 large suitcase, and 1 small suitcase in the room (or 2 small and 2 med cabin size bags). You are welcome to use the facilities set up for you in the utility room anytime to make hot drinks, heat a meal in the microwave, and assemble breakfast with items I will leave for you. The Garden Room is a lovely breakfast room, and you may also eat a take-away ( local Fish and Chips and Indian restaurants ) in here too. Ofcourse, if you'd like to pre-book a meal cooked by me, I am very happy to do this. I respectfully ask - NO eating or drinking (other than water of course!) in the bedroom. This just helps keep the room clean for all users. I provide 4-8 clothes hangers, but if you'd like more, please just ask me. This is my home. I have a pretty busy life and enjoy a good social life. The house is cosy, but I am respectful of my guests privacy. Usually my guests respect mine, and we all have a happy time! I will do my best to welcome you personally, but if for whatever reason I am unable to be here, your entrance is via the utility room door. I will give you the lock box code when you have completed your booking. This entrance gives you access to the shared spaces and up to your room. As I am a busy person, with a random work schedule, I may not be able to welcome you personally. If this is the case, there is a lock box with the key, and I will give you information about how to let yourselves in, or one of my neighbours will welcome you. If I am available to cook for you, and you have prebooked an evening meal or Food Tour, I will arrange all the details by email. If I am not at home when you arrive, I will send you full instructions on how various things work, and you can always (Hidden by Airbnb) message me. (If you can't find it on the info I leave, the wifi code is on the router in the cupboard at the bottom of the stairs !) There are wonderful walks and cycle rides from the house, tourist attractions and places to eat and drink nearby. Within 5-10 min walk, there's a cafe called Will's, a Fish and Chip shop, and a village shop for groceries and newspaters etc.!! There's a great pub The White Dog ( best to call for reservation if you'd like to eat) in Ewhurst Green ( 5 mins drive, 20 min cycle, 1 hour walk). A lovely cafe The Hub, at Bodiam. An Indian restaurant is 1 mile from the village towards the Kent and Sussex Steam Train station. You'l probably arrive by car, but there are bus services (limited) from Rye, Ashford via Tenterden, Hastings ( Conquest hospital). There is a fast train from St Pancras to Rye via Ashford - or a scheduled service from Charing Cross to Robertsbridge. It is best to pre-book a taxi from Robertsbridge station as there is no taxi rank at either station. Great cycling routes locally, with an E-Bike hire shop at Newenden (20 minutes walk). Also in Newenden is a boat/canoe hire. On the edge of Northiam is the Kent and Sussex Steam train which runs from Tenterden to Bodiam - they have all kinds of fun days. Walks to Great Dixter, to Ewhurst Green, or on the Sussex path to the coast or inland. Drive to Winchelsea beach or Camber Sands ( busy in the height of the season). When Lockdown is in action, this means that we are living at home, and abiding by regulations for non- essential movement ( there are fines for not abiding by these regulations). As our house is a shared space, it will not be possible to take bookings until the Lock Down is lifted. Noone is more sorry about this than me. We do all we can to keep our guests safe, please bear with us if we have to cancel your booking because of this protocol.
