The Wine Cellar was constructed to store wine but is on the ground floor not a hole in the ground. It now provides a wonderful open space for couples to relax alone or can be used in conjunction with the other cottages as a friendly space for family or friends to get together. The large kitchen/living area is equipped with enough cutlery and crockery to allow 12 people to eat together. The Wine Cellar has a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and an over bath shower....... The Lounge area has a double sofa bed that can sleep two, a second door to the bathroom allows access from the lounge area if required.Although the Wine Cellar is part of the main house it is a self contained annex* with separate entrance from the main courtyard into the lounge and another from the kitchen/living area into the main gardens. *Self contained but does hold the electrical connections for the rest of the house so in the unlikely event of an electrical problem in the house I would need to ask for access to flick the necessary switches. The Wine Cellar has central heating. The Wine Cellar is a completely self contained with its own front and back doors. The general grounds are shared space with whoever is staying at Sherwood but that still leaves plenty of space for everyone. I live at the other end of the house so you are free to come and go as you please and not be worried about disturbing anyone but I am usually around or at the end of a phone to answer queries if you have any. Sherwood is approximately 2 miles from North Petherton (small shops, pubs and other places to eat) and 4 miles from Bridgwater. (normal range of supermarkets, cinema, swimming pool etc) Blue Door Cottages at Sherwood provide pleasantly quirky accommodation for couples and small families to enjoy on an individual basis but also form an ideal group for larger families and friends to enjoy each others’ company while providing the space and privacy people need to really relax. Between them the cottages can easily accommodate 12 people and beds for groups of up to 16-18 can be arranged subject to agreement with the owners. Well behaved dogs are welcome. The cottages, Hen House, Potting Shed, Brew House and the Wine Cellar, have been converted from out-buildings at Sherwood. The buildings are set in about five acres of a rather overgrown woodland garden. Set on the lower slopes of the Quantocks along narrow winding lanes but only 10 minutes from Junction 24 of the M5, Sherwood is a great place to relax but also makes a wonderful base from which to explore the whole of Somerset and some of the attractions of the surrounding counties. You will need a car or bicycle or really like walking! WiFi signal is variable.
