Message us for more flexible dates. A peaceful and historic home nestling alone in fields of sunflowers, corn or soya. With your first glimpse, it is the image of peace and tranquility, and you know you can relax. Built centuries ago it's attached to an ancient tower with records dating back to 1250 when the Knights Templar, order of the cavaliers made La Grange their home and left behind some carvings. In this beautiful, unspoiled corner of France you can choose to do a lot or nothing at all. We invite you to fall in love with the peace and history of your holiday home. In this, our second season our guests will enjoy the extensive modernisation and new facilities, all sitting comfortably within the old walls of this ancient house. With good Wifi, you can keep in touch while gazing out at the rolling hills. There are three nearby markets where you can buy everything local if you choose, honey, cheese, wine, armanac or beef to take home and eat in the shade where you will hear nothing but the birds singing and the bees buzzing. We are lucky to be surrounded by fantastic restaurants all eager to cook you the best the region has to offer. La Grange gives you tranquility and peace but this area is also famous for it's music festivals, every weekend throughout the summer there is something happening here, from the huge Jazz festival in nearby Marciac with big names like Sting performing and the Salsa fastival in Vic Fezensac where for three days the streets throb with outside Salsa lessons where you can join in or simply watch with a cool beer or a glass of wine or you can get swept up to dance the night away. In the summer of 2021 the festivals are planning to be back with even more enthusiasm and energy. There's a beautiful space to sit down and relax right outside your gite. We live in a separate house that is also attatched to the old tower enabling us to be available to answer your questions about the area, the best places to eat and things to do if you can tear yourself away from the tranquility of La Grange. **NEW EDIT 2022 ** The Tempo Latino Festival is on! **28-30 July** Jazz in Marciac is on! **22 July-6 August** Until you head for the music festivals this area seems lost in time. The people are very friendly placing most importance on the taste and quality of their food. The traffic is low and down our 2km drive you will rarely see any cars except maybe the postman. Of course, as we are near to the Tour de France cyclists are attracted to the pleasant roads. Within about 10 minutes drive you can explore the gorgeous village of Bassoues with it's ancient bastide, the castle and dungeon were built here in 1371 and for a few euros you can explore all the way up to the top into it's turrets. After that of course you'll need a glass of wine that can be sipped out side in the bar and resturant that was once a monastry or browse in the pottery shop or brocante and maybe buy a memory of your stay. These places are too numerous too mention, when you get here we can talk you through the places that you feel you would enjoy. Of course we are also surrounded by vineyards where you are welcomed in taste the local wines. Legend has it that one of the ancient routes of the Camino de Santiago went right past La Grange. Although we have no evidence of this we believe it to be likely because the main purpose of the Knights Templar was to protect pilgrims on their journey. The walking here is beautiful with countless lakes to sit by for a picnic and while cycling is popular the main transport is your car with the local markets, brocantes and vinyards being from 15 minutes away. La Grange is located at the end of a 2km drive were you can enjoy complete tranquility with no traffic except the wildlife and rarely, a tractor. We can sometimes adjust the 7 day minimum stay, with check in on Saturday, please message us if you need more flexibility.
