Tŷ Rowan is a lovely little house to stay in to explore the delights of Gwynedd, Conwy and the rest of North Wales. The house is attatched to our own house and is an old quarry man's cottage at the end of the terrace. The house offers basic, comfy accommodation- with easy going hosts. Please note-the house is quite basic but very cosy. Please note-we have a small pond in the garden and ask parents to keep an eye on small children with this in mind. Ty Rowan is a cottage situated on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Our post code is LL573HU. The house is basic but offers warm and cosy base for your stay- with gas central heating, and a log fire. There are two bed rooms, one sleeps two with a single bed and a pull out single as well. In the other room there two singles beds which can be pushed together. There is a bathroon with shower, a l lounge with the fire and single sofa bed and a large light kitchen with a wooden farmhouse table with seating for 6, a gas cooker, microwave, washing machine and tumble drier. The kitchen has lovely views over o the west and Anglesey, and opens out onto a large patio and small garden. The views at sunset are spectacular if the weather is co-operating.There is a drive for one vehicle. We are situated in the village of Llanllechid which has a Post-office with well equipped shop. From the village frequent buses can take you to Bangor, Betws-y-Coed and Caernarfon, etc. This is a popular base for exploring the fantastic mountains, lakes, castles and beaches of North Wales. We are a mile from Bethesda which has a small Tesco, Londis and Spar. In Bethesda there are various pubs, cafes and takeaways. Ty Rowan is 2 miles from the Zip Wire ('Zip World') A few miles away are the historic towns of Conwy, Caernarfon and Beaumaris with their 13th. century castles. From here you can take boat trips. A boat ride around Penmon Island takes you to a wild life sactury of sea birds and seals. We are only a few miles from Llanberis, where the Snowdonia Mountain Railway begins. This narrow gauge railway will take you to the very summit of the largest mountain in Wales and England. The views of course, are stunning (clouds permitting!). There is also a cafe on the summit of this mountain, originally built by the Victorians, and recently rebuilt. This area is full of historical sites, beautiful scenery, mountains and beaches. We provide WIFI. The fee includes one bag of logs ( further bags in the cupboard for £3), towels and bed linen. A £5 a night refund will be given to you if you bring your own bed linen and towels-just let me know before hand. There is no T.V. but a selections of family games and books. Dogs are welcome, but we do ask owners to clean up after their dogs and use the council bins provided for that purpose to keep them off the furniture. You will have the whole house to yourselves. We only live next door to Tŷ Rowan, so can easily contact us if you need anything during your stay. This is a great base for the mountains, lakes, beaches and castles of Snowdonia. Many guests enjoy the local Zip Wire, and the award winning Greenwood Forest Park family attraction which is only 5 miles away. Near by are The Anglesey Sea Zoo, Welsh Mountain Zoo and Pili Palace-well worth a visit. Penryn Castle-a 19th.century building is 3 miles down the road with fabulous activities for children. About 8 miles from Ty Rowan is the town of Llanberis, here the Snowdon railway can take you to the top of Snowdon-or you can walk/climb up (depending on which route you take). Llanberis also offers the Electric Mountain tour and ( my favourite!) The slate Museum. This is an open air museum still full of the original workings of the slate industry-a massive working water wheel, demonstrations to show how the quarry men had to split the slate by hand-and much more. Bangor train station is 5 miles away. There are local taxis of course,as well as a frequent bus service from our village(Rachub) to bangor. From Bangor there are connecting buses to Llanberis,Caernarfon ,Conwy etc. (www. (Website hidden by Airbnb) You can book for one night only but the fee will be £90 All other dates are for two or three weekend nights or 4-5 week day nights.
