Charming 2 bedroom gite with private pool

La Merise is a private holiday rental, 20 minutes from Albi and an hour away from Toulouse. This beautifully peaceful converted barn in the heart of the stunning Tarn countryside, has 2 bedrooms (1 double/1 twin), a sun terrace and a private heated pool. It is situated close to the thriving village of Villefranche d'Albigeois with all amenities as well as local markets for fresh produce. This really is is the perfect spot for an idyllic experience of rural France. The gite is very private and is not overlooked. Guests have the entire upper garden to themselves, and this area includes the pool. Gite and upper garden We live in the house next to the gite. We do not use the pool when we have guests in the gite. There is a comprehensive information pack and we will do our best to answer any questions or suggestions on places to visit. We will be happy to do this over an apero! We are situated close to the village of Villefranche d'Albigeois, 5 minutes in the car or 25-30 minutes walk. There is a good small supermarket, butcher, bakery, bar/restaurant and pharmacy. The gite is close to the Tarn Valley and the river is normally quiet in the summer, allowing swimming, canoeing and fishing. Cycling is very popular and there are marked cycle roads and trails. Battery assisted cycles can be hired from the tourist office in Ambialet, about 15 minutes drive. There are good markets in the surrounding towns, and interesting places to visit such as the bastide towns, Cordes sur Ciel, Puycelsi, Castelnau de Montmiral, as well as Lautrec (for Pastel) and many more. For walkers, there are many trails, including sections of the GR36 which are easily accessible from the gite. La Merise nestles in a quiet, rural part of France, in beautiful countryside yet close to amenities and the city of Albi. Being surrounded by farmland and woodland, we have a great variety of wildlife. Birds seen here include Buzzards, kestrels, Hoopoes, Swallows, House Martins, Woodpeckers, both green and spotted, and many finches and buntings. There are deer and foxes and the deer often come into the garden early in the morning. Toulouse Blagnac Airport, or the train station is approximately 1 hour. There is also a train service from Toulouse to Albi. Albi is approximately 20 minutes drive from the gite. A car is certainly necessary to make the most of the beautiful tarn valley. Please note: The swimming pool will be heated until the beginning of October in normal weather. It will be re-opened in April/May depending on the ambient temperature. Please check with us for an update. There are no hidden charges. There is no charge for cleaning, heating, bedding and no deposit is required. Please note that there are two friendly and enthusiastic labrador dogs on the premises, who have access to the garden.
