Koromiko Farm Stay @ Loch Sloy Farm Little River
***Guests must show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination (we are fully vaccinated too)*** This is the original farmhouse. It was built during the mid nineteenth century, but has been completely modernised, with a new kitchen, log burner and twin bathrooms, one with claw foot bath. Its view is down Lake Forsythe (Wairewa). Lochsloy is a small working farm, with sheep, chickens, and a small forestry block. The home retains much of the atmosphere that a nineteenth century farmhouse might have had, but has been completely renovated to provide every modern amenity - showers, log burner, claw foot bath, new kitchen with range, hob and dishwasher and wireless internet. All linen is supplied, bedrooms are separately heated, and beds have electric blankets. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, while bedroom three is a separate bunkroom accessed through bedroom two. Bedroom three also has an alternative external access. You have access to the entire house, and are free to roam the eighteen acres of the property. There are areas in sheep pasture, a small forestry block, and a stand of regenerating native bush, which hosts native birds such as the kereru, fantail and tui. Your hosts live in separate accommodation on the property, and are available to assist you with anything you may require. Little River is often called The Gateway to Banks Peninsula. It is the last village of any size before you head up and over the first range on the road to Akaroa. The village has a café, a well-respected gallery, a craft shop, a diner, a service station and a hotel, and is at the head of the Little River Rail Trail. We're a 40 minute drive from Christchurch (about 55 minutes from the airport), and just half an hour from Akaroa. Lochsloy is in a central location from which to explore the Peninsula - five minutes from Birdlings Flat, close to walks and the Rail Trail, and just over the hill to the numerous bays, and the busy tourist destination of Akaroa. We ask that you bear in mind that Lochsloy is a small working farm. We like to keep our animals on our own property, and off the roads, and we ask that you assist by closing gates behind you. If you are unsure about anything, please don't hesitate to ask.
