This property has a two night minimum on all stays. Tastefully re-decorated this family size cottage is the perfect escape. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne it is close enough to stay for a weekend, and well equipped to linger over a week. If you're looking for somewhere chilled this is the spot where family memories are made! Coronet Bay is a hidden gem. Located just 5 km off the Bass Coast Highway it is far enough to leave the traffic but close enough to Phillip Island and other local attractions should the kids ever tire of the beautiful sandy beach. The general store has a bit of everything including $1 lolly bags for a simple treat. It's just 150 metres away en route to the beach. The beach itself is sheltered and makes for great swimming or passive water sports. There's a well maintained foreshore including a new children's playground, coin BBQ's, all weather shelter, toilets, boat ramp and walking path. Best of all it's doggy heaven as your pooches can go there all day, all year round off lead. Additionally, there's Corinella Jetty just around the corner(or a long walk along the beach at low tide). It is known as a fisherman's paradise; or just a simple excuse to go for a walk with an ice cream. In the summer there's a ferry to French Island- full of history and natural beauty. The award winning La Provincia Italian farm produce shop and restaurant is just a 5 minute drive away (closed Mondays and cash only). It stocks fresh produce, antipasto items and cakes. Gina's home picked olives will leave you craving more! Grantville has a plethora of services including Doctor, Chemist, Bakery, Post Office, Bottle Shop and service station available during normal business hours. The fish and chip shop is excellent. Finally if you really have the midnight munchies there's a 24 hour McDonalds and service station in Bass (5km via back road in the opposite direction)....but you won't pass it on the way in so the best kept secret from the kids! A private family and dog friendly space for all. Cutty Sark Cottage @ Coronet Bay is set up so a family can be self sufficient. The kitchen is open plan and fitted with quality crockery and a range of appliances that make holiday catering a breeze. There's a bread machine and slow cooker so you can take the time to enjoy life's simple pleasures; in addition to a Nespresso machine for those of us that cannot go without our daily cup. Basic breakfast supplies will get you started but we recommend clients bring favourite food items as the closest supermarket is Lang Lang (20 minutes drive away). A full picnic basket makes for an easy foreshore bbq or sunset picnic. There's a queen size bed in one room and a bunk with trundle in the other room. You need to bring their own linen and towels. All mattresses are new and meet Australian Standards. The bathroom has a large vanity with toilet and shower bath for a long soak should you take the time. The open living space includes enough dvds, books and board games to keep any family amused on a rainy day. You can entertain on either the formal dining table or outdoor table setting. A Tripp Trapp Junior chair is available for small children. Huge sliding doors overlook the deck, yard and horse paddocks beyond. There's even a sea view with French Island in the distance A pair of deck chairs are the perfect way to relax in Northerly sun after a long day out. Behind the paddocks are BMX tracks which are easily accessed via the side street. There's loads of space in the secure yard for kids and dogs to play. Dogs are by request only and not welcome in the bedrooms or on couches. The cottage is not recommended for babies and young toddlers because of it's elevation. Doonas and pillows are provided however guests need to bring their own doona covers, pillow cases, sheets and towels. A full sheet and towel set is is available at extra cost by advance request. Local attractions Maru Animal Park and Pirate Mini Golf offers a great value for money afternoon out that is just 8 minutes away. You can get up close to Australian wildlife with animal encounters (even Koalas!) but pre-book to avoid disappointment. Caldermeade Dairy Farm is a great afternoon out if you want to see a working animal farm. Milking starts 3pm. Just beyond Grantville is the Gurdies nature reserve with bush walking tracks. You can continue 20 minutes north to Loch Village for a mosey the in the brewery, antique shops and tea rooms. Bass Valley Winery is on the edge of the village and well worth a tasting stop. Or, why not go for a drive West along the beautiful coastal drive via Kilcunda. Take a diversion to Archie's Creek where the famous Kongwak retro market presides each Sunday morning- the Asian street food is a must! Wonthaggi and Inverloch are further afield on the same road. Phillip Island is just 20 minutes away- enjoy it then leave the crowds! Amaze n Things, The Grand Prix Race Track, Panny's Chocolate Factory, Churchill island, the Penguins and The Nobbies are amongst the most popular attractions. Grab a brochure from the cottage for a heads up on booking ahead. Cutty Sark Cottage @ Coronet Bay offers a Penguin Pack with blankets and Thermos available to keep you warm on your night adventure! Phillip Island parkrun is closely located on the beautiful Churchill Island heritage farm for those Park runners! After all that travelling if you're not up for cooking there's evening eating at Grantville Fish and Chips, the Woolamai Claypot Curry House, La Provincia (weekends only), Bass Pub or Bass McDonalds- all a short drive away. Finally, should your partner want to commute direct from the city, there's a V-Line Bus service that departs Southern Cross and Dandenong Stations 5 times a day to the Coronet Bay turnoff where a local bus synchronises the last leg of the journey...a great way for half the family to start the weekend early then partners arrive for a late dinner. It costs just over $10 from the City, making a viable solution to taking a second car.
