Elegant private castle with pool, tenniscourt

Fully restored very spacious 15-17th century castle (8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms). 1 km from a small village, yet completely in nature, along a small river, acres of private grounds, tennis-court, heated pool and jacuzzi. Barbecue, pooltable, movie/games-room. Nearby: golf course, Poitiers, theme parc Futuroscope, the beach near La Rochelle. Punting in the famous Marais Poitevin (‘green Venice’). Ideally suited for those looking for a luxury retreat where your can spend a beautiful holiday or celebrate an anniversary with the family, with complete privacy within the setting of a beautiful centuries old castle, and private grounds. The original chateau stems from 1369, but has been restored to a level where you don't miss any modern conveniences: 6 bedrooms have modern en suite bathrooms, and 2 bedrooms share one. The castle is very close to a village with bakery, grocery, bar, restaurant, medical centre, pharmacie, etc, but yet is situated completely private with beautiful views over maddows and woodlands and borders a small river. The private pool (heated from 15 May-15 October) is situated on the south-west with full sun exposure during the day. Next to the pool a heated jacuzzi for 3-4 people. Alternative the kids can take the boat out on the small river wich runs along the property. A weber gas barbecue-system is at your disposal for those nice long summer evenings. Apart from the 8 bedrooms, the guest will have access to a beautiful dining room which sits 16-18 guests, a living room, a tv-room with a 75 inch flatscreen, netflix, dvd's and a PS4 play-station for the kids, and a spacious kitchen-livingroom with a big separate dining table. Next to the dining room a biljard room with american pool-table. Further at your disposal 8 bicycles and 4 for children. There is also an outside table tennis-table, a tennis-court, soccer goals, a tennis court, and a basketball-hoop. Kids never are bored here (at least so far!). You will have the full castle to yourselves. A care-taker/family-member will be staying at a caretaker-cottage on the estate in case you need any assistance, but at all times your privacy is of the utmost importance. Bedlinnen and towels will be provided. Menigoute is situated in a very green area with lots of things to do or see in the neighborhood. In direct neighborhood: roman ruins (5 min) where every August a national famous opera is being organised in the Roman Amphitheatre, kayaking (15 min), horse-riding (10 min). Within 30-70 min driving: the sea-side (La Rochelle), old cities such as Poitiers or the attraction parc Le Futuroscope, a special open parc zoo for apes (valley de singes), and the aquarium at La Rochelle. The cognac-area is 1 hour drive from Menigoute, at a 2.30 hours drive the vineyards of the Bordeaux-area. TGV's depart from paris: it takes 2 hours to reach the nearest station (Saint Maixent de l'ecole) is a 15 minutes taxi drive from the castle. Poitiers airport which can be reached from London Stanstead is a 30 min drive. Bordeaux airport at a 2 hours drive. One of the 8 double bedroom is currently a childrens' room with a double-bed and a 2 level children-bed.
