The Garden Room @ Derwent Cottage.
Tranquil garden setting Joy and I have thought very carefully about fitting out and furnishing the Garden Room. It is a lovely self contained space and you are very welcome to make use of the garden. Due to the number of steps to access the Garden Room, the raised patio and planted areas and only having a standard sized double bed we consider it not suitable for guests to bring their children. During your stay you are very welcome to enjoy the garden and make use of the patio and fire bowl / barbecue, we always have wood available at no extra charge. Joy and I live in the main house so we are always on hand if you require local advice or help with anything. We are frequently in the garden- working, relaxing, playing with our dogs or seeing to the hens. Our garden is a great place to relax after a long journey or a day’s sight seeing. We like to think it is our own oasis and our visitors are always pleasantly surprised when they come through the security door to discover what’s at the back of the house. We are ideally placed if you are keen cyclists or walkers exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland. Joy and I would suggest you leave your car on our gravel drive and walk to explore Lancaster. We are a 5 minute walk to LRGS, 10 minute walk to Williamson’s Park, 15 minute walk to the University of Cumbria, 20 minute walk into the centre of Lancaster and a 25 minute walk to the train station. Lancaster University is a 10 minute drive. The motorway - M6 J 34 is just 10 minute drive. We are A 15 minute drive to the coast at Morecambe A 15 minute drive from the Trough of Bowland A 25 minute drive to the Lake District National Park. A 30 minute drive to The Yorkshire Dales Reuben, Egor and Ilia our Hungarian Vizslas live with us. They are extremely friendly and will welcome you with their bark, so please don’t be alarmed! We have a number of hens at the top of the garden in their own enclosure. There is a sturdy 3 foot fence around them, but we know some dogs may be inquisitive and want to explore! Please be aware if you think your dog may want to join them in the coup! (Often the hens freely roam ) You are more than welcome to bring your dog, but please be respectful as you will be liable for any damage incurred to the property. We would also greatly appreciate you telling us if you are planning on bringing your dog.
