A spacious ridge top house on five acres surrounded by beautiful eucalyptus trees and abundant birdlife. Enjoy a time away with lovely views of the escarpment and gaze at the fire in the fireplace (for the digital detox, no TV and WiFi in the house). A 5-min drive to the M4 will provide you with easy access to the Jenolan Caves or the bush walks and restaurants of the Blue Mountains. Just down the road is our local gourmet wood fired pizza place. Welcome to our house, a place that has been with the family for the past 20 years. This is where we escape from our busy city life for a technology detox. We highly recommend a morning stroll around the bush with a cup of tea or coffee or a sunset stroll with a beer or wine. Feel free to sit at the top of the paddock at sunset and take in the views. The house is a little rough around the edges but has lots of charm. It has a fully equipped kitchen with views to the garden. The living room, dining area and kitchen is open plan and it is a great place to cook up a feast. There is a master bedroom with ensuite and access to a nursery/child's room via a sliding door and a second bedroom at the opposite end of the house. Both bedrooms have easy access to a covered veranda which gets the morning light and looks out towards the trees. A second bathroom and a separate toilet are next to the second bedroom. The house is on bottled gas and tank water. The water is coloured due to leaf litter in gutters (gutter guards is on the todo list). There is water filter for drinking water (5 micron ceramic filter), however please note we do not monitor the water filter for quality. Having a fire to warm the house is not only essential but it adds to the charm of being in the countryside. Unfortunately good quality hardwood for fire is not being grown as quickly as it is burnt so please burn just as much as you need to stay cozy. Turning the built-in fan on will really spread the heat around. Collecting small twigs for kindling is fine, if you need to break the wood provided please use the hatchet. Fallen branches are food for the bugs which are food for the birds that make this place special. The bush block section is fenced and little children cannot get far. It is the countryside so the usual spiders and snakes can make an appearance so please take care. There is a basic first aid kit in the closet opposite the front door. There is no washing machine, dryer, TV, WiFi. Due to rain washing away bits of the the driveway, sections can be tricky and bumpy. This is my families special place and we welcome you to come and enjoy it and treat it with respect. Guests will have full uninterrupted use of the property during their stay. There is plenty of parking. Little Hartley has long been a secret getaway for Sydneysiders and when you get here you will see why. For the adventurous, great rock climbing and bush walks are not far away. We highly recommend exploring the glow worm tunnel, ironically the best time to see them is at night (full moon is ideal). Its when no one else is around to blind you with a torch. If you fancy rubbing shoulders with locals, you can always watch a film at the Mount Vic Flicks, it has to be the cutest cinema around. Lithgow has all the big super markets and bottle shops. As a town, it is coming along. You can shop for local art at the Gang Gang gallery and eat at some of the new cafes that are popping up. Too tired to cook, Alchemy wood fire pizzas on the M4 are pretty good. You can order a couple for collection be back in front of the fire or at the top of the paddock while the pizzas are still hot. If you have a sweet tooth then the Lolly Bug is where you get your sugar fix, choose from over 1000 different lollies. Cars are the only way to get around, however the nearest train station is Mt Victoria.
