Red Rock Retreat

Our guest quarters, on the second story above the garage, has a private entrance, one bedroom with three beds, a private full bath and sitting area. There is a microwave, coffee maker and small fridge but not full cooking facilities. Conveniently located 11 miles from Capitol Reef National Park visitor center, two hours from Bryce Canyon National Park and two hours from Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. Access is inside our garage then up one full flight of stairs. Guests may use the driveway to load and unload but then need to park in front of the house near the large pine trees. Guests may use the front yard area to enjoy the cooler evenings. We use the fully fenced backyard area with our dogs and chickens. There is a sewing/quilting studio in part of the guest area. Please leave those items alone. You can use the TV and lounge chairs in that area but please don't mess with the sewing machines, fabric or projects in progress. Generally guests have no access to the main house area, but feel free to knock if you need something or have questions. Someone is usually home in the atrached main house when guests visit. Three yapping dogs will announce guests arrival and departure but otherwise are not noisy. We are happy to visit with guests if you need information or have questions about life in rural Utah. But we will give you all the privacy you prefer. We are just a block and a half away from Torrey main street. There are seven restaurants and a small grocery store within a one mile radius, open during spring, summer and fall. It is a quiet neighborhood with a few roosters crowing, cows mooing or dogs barking in the distance. The scenery within a 50 mile radius will take your breath away. You can hike in or near Capitol Reef with the red rocks, lizards and cactus or you can hike into an alpine lake high on Boulder Mountain to enjoy some trout fishing. No public transit of any kind in this area. Be careful relying on GPS directions as the maps are not updated and as accurate as in larger populated areas and cell phone service is spotty or non existent in lots of places.
