Cosy Idyllic Cabin in South Devon
A luxurious, rustic haven away from it all. The luxury bits: French linen bedding, robes, soft towels & toiletries, woodburner, a good book, no street lights...You might just sleep better than you have in years. The rustic bits: There's hot water and large sink in the bathroom- and kitchen- and a hot outdoor shower at the back of the cabin running off gas and a hose, which according to the reviews, everyone loves! in the winter, the cabin is heated from the woodburner, or a portable gas fire. Our guests often say their stay in the cabin felt like a little pause from the real world. A moment to recharge. We've left it as simple as we can, without foregoing any of the little things that make a relaxing time away peaceful and happy. The kitchen is properly equipped, including a fridge and little trusty Belling oven, there's fresh ground coffee, tea, herbs teas, sugar, and a selection of board games, books, and off-the-beaten-track magazines. But our wifi doesn't reach the cabin, and we've not made any attempts to change that. If you do need access to the internet, you are welcome to wander across the garden nearer to our house and connect to our network, but we also suspect that you'll be quite glad of the excuse to ignore your emails for a brief moment. The cabin is accessed through our garden, and you are most welcome to share the garden with us during your stay, to relax on a deck chairs, hang in the hammock, or have a bounce on the trampoline. The cabin and it's decking area are all yours and only yours during your stay and you'll have your own key for 24hr access. We’re here whenever possible to welcome you on arrival, and I’ll let you know beforehand if we can't be. We're usually about, but while we're on hand if you need us we'll leave it up to you how much you feel like interacting. We thoroughly enjoy people visiting, and we'll do everything we can to help you make your stay lovely. If you want to know where to head for the nicest local shops, or want to know which beaches we love most, just ask. Landscove is a pretty and highly sought-after village in the South Hams. A village hall, a fantastic gastro pub, primary school and church are about the only things that interrupt the organically-farmed fields and Devon lanes, and with no street lights in the area the nights are blissful, and the stars shine bright. A local bus passes Landscove twice a day from Totnes, but a car is the only sensible way to get around the area, unless you are an avid walker or cyclist. Your cabin is exclusively yours during your stay, but you will probably see us around- gardening, or working on a building-in progress on the other side of the garden. We shouldn't disturb you though, and we'll leave you in peace unless you'd like a chat or need anything. The cabin has a great little woodburner which heats the space wonderfully once it's going, but you'll want to be familiar and safe with fire-making during winter visits to use it. Alternatively, we've added a gas heater to the cabin if you feel more confident using that instead of the woodburner. It's not as romantically wood-scented or lovely to sit by, but it will keep you quickly and easily toasty during winter visits. The duvet is winter-weight 13 tog, and the cabin is wool-insulated so it's warm and cosy once heated, but you'll want to be happy with a bring-your-woolly-socks lifestyle that goes with starting one of the fires of a frosty morning. We have a beehive in the garden. It's a very safe distance from the cabin, and our bees are far too busy making honey and shouldn't pay you the least bit of attention, but do give them space and take the usual precautions of carrying an epi pen with you if you know you are allergic to bee stings.
