The Jungle retreat, Rajaji National park is a cluster of 10 independently spread out cottages near Haridwar and Rishikesh, it works as a stylish hostel/lodge, suitable for organic cooking, experiencing natural living, nature walks, yoga, meditation. Recommended for - bikers, hikers, photography, nature & wildlife enthusiasts and romantic getaways. We want guests to try a new concept around Rishikesh and Haridwar - a semi - luxury hostel. 1. Rooms can be chosen as per group size - and we do offer differing rates. 2. Kitchen - you can walk in to the kitchen and cook yourself or you can ask our in - house to cook a meal for you after discussing a rate (usually Rs (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) . Organic growing - our gardener would be happy to offer some small classes and tour of the area. 4. Walks / treks - ask us - the best feature of the property is that it has several treks of varying grades running in all directions and guest can undertake them as per their own level of fitness. 5. Sunrise and sunset – very romantic sunrise and sunset points 6. Wildlife safari - ask us – Rajaji National Park is close by, we know most of the rangers personally. 7. Biking - ask us – several scenic routes near by. All in all the Jungle Retreat is a remote, serene, quiet and a special place - while being close to all 3 - Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun. Specially for winters, when the North Indian plains are covered with fog, The Jungle Retreat is bright & Sunny as it is above the fog. I keep dropping in on the property. Usually I don’t stay on the property but if guests require my presence, I’ll be happy to show them around. Once the guests arrive, a staff member will be assigned to take care of them and they may coordinate with me for any requirements. Our place, The Jungle Retreat, Rajaji National Park, is a cluster of 10 independent cottages spread out on a 8 acre table – top hill at a height of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ft. It is 32 KMs from Haridwar and 21 KMs from Rishikesh. You have to come to village Ganga Bhogpur near the Chilla Hydro Project (144 MW) on the left (Eastern Bank) of the Ganges. From here a dirt track starts climbing east and takes you to The Jungle Retreat 12 KMs away through the core zone of the Rajaji National Park where wildlife sighting is common. From the Jungle Retreat itself you get a spectacular view of the Ganges Valley and the forest lying below. On a clear day you can get a glimpse of 5 or 6 Himalayan snow peaks. To fully enjoy guests must take small treks into the neighboring jungle which has India’s great wildlife (Elephant, Tigers, and Leopards). Rajaji National Park has over 300 species of birds including the great pied hornbill and myriads of sun birds. Guests usually come over in their vehicles/ bikes/ SUVs and/or pre- hired transport. There is no public transport directly to or from the property. However jeep, taxis from villages, which are further away, ferry passengers to Rishikesh in the morning and bring them back in the afternoon. The fare is (one way) Rs. 75/-. We can let guests know the details, if they require it. A full jeep can be hired between Rs (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) /- to (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) /- for the trip to Rishikesh or for a local safari.
