The microwave, toaster, kettle plus crockery and cutlery allow for basic self catering. Tea and coffee are provided and you'll find a pint of milk and chilled water in the mini fridge. There's even an iron and a small ironing board if you left home in a rush! The small private en-suite bathroom has a generous sized shower plus a sink and toilet. Large bath towels, hand towels, shower gel, shampoo and a good hairdryer are all provided. If you forget your toothbrush - don't worry as these and other useful items are available in the cupboard under the sink. Clothes can be hung up on the hooks and hangers on the wall in the corridor. Breakfast is not provided but you can stock up at the local Tesco Express (8 minutes walk) or buy breakfast at one of the cafes on the same street. Free street parking is available outside or nearby (if you arrive by car in the evening, you may have to park around the corner). You can catch the bus into town from the bus stop opposite. The trip takes 20 minutes but if the weather is fine, you may want to take the pleasant walk into Bath via Victoria Park which takes 45 minutes. The Den is located just 2.3 miles from the city centre on a regular bus route which means you can enjoy easy access to the city whilst avoiding the noise, poor air, expensive parking and higher accommodation costs. Look forward to a quiet night’s sleep close to green fields! You are welcome to enjoy the shared garden if the season allows. You’ll find chairs to lounge in after a taxing day in the city centre - but please respect our neighbours and avoid noise after dark. I always enjoy meeting guests but don’t insist on it. You can seek me out at any time during your stay for information about things to do, places to eat, local walks etc. Otherwise, I will respect your privacy. Weston sits right on the north west edge of Bath with lovely views of the hills surrounding it. The Cotswold Way passes close by and I can tell you about some lovely walks from the house if you want a break from the city. I live on a leafy street of houses built in 1949 to address the housing shortage after World War II. Parts of the village are much older and include the 'laundry' cottages where hard working women took advantage of the many streams that flow down into Weston to provide laundry services for the well-to-do of Georgian and Victorian Bath. Weston High Street is about 8 minutes walk away with shops including a Tesco Express, a take away, post office, bakery, pharmacy and several cafes that serve breakfast. The Old Crown pub serves food and is a 10 minute walk via the pretty churchyard. More shops and pubs are available in Lower Weston which is about 20 minutes walk away. There is a bus stop opposite the house where you can catch the number 4 or 4a bus into the city centre. Coming back, you alight at the same stop. Buses run very frequently. If you are coming to Bath via coach or train, you can catch the number 4 or 4a at the coach station (but DO CHECK the front of the bus says 'Weston' as the buses go in two directions from here). The train station is right next door to the coach station. Taxis into town cost around £8 or £9. If you come by car - there is free street parking outside or nearby depending on what time of day you arrive. We are about 15 minutes drive from the M4 motorway and the best route avoids the town centre. The location is very handy for those guests requiring a place close to the Royal United Hospital. You can walk there in eleven minutes or catch the bus and get there in six. Hospital visits can be stressful. Coming back to this space will provide the perfect antidote! For those with mobility issues, please note the Den is on ground level with just one step by the door. For walkers on The Cotswold Way - we are less than 10 minutes from the path. The annexe adjoins the main house via a kitchen door which is locked on both sides. We do our best not to disturb you but occasionally you may hear us in the kitchen. If you have lots of luggage or just want a big space then maybe look elsewhere as the bedroom is not large and storage space is limited.
