Double bedroom in charming cottage in Wells Somt.
Silver Street leads up to the Moat and the Bishops Palace, Folly Cottage is opposite a stream with a farm beyond it. The cottage is 300 years old with low ceilings and steep stairs, It is over three floors, the bedroom I let is on the second floor with a low ceiling. The bed has a memory foam mattress and ample pillows. There is WiFi and tea & coffee are provided. Breakfast will be in the kitchen -diner which has a television set, guests are welcome to use the sitting room,or my garden. The cottage is quaint with beams and narrow stairs. The main room has a low. ceiling the stairs which lead out of it are new and have a stair lift. The kitchen / dining room is a modern extension though it too has beams. The room I let is up a narrow almost spiral staircase, the room is in the roof so there is restricted headroom about 6'4" in the centre. you are welcome to use the garden (weather permitting) also the washing machine, iron and ironingboard. I am happy to help guests find a pub or Restaurant and to give them directions or a map to find places of interest. Wells is very special it has a busy music scene and in Cedars Hall we have a venue for both music and the arts. The Cathedral is of course what most people come to see but don’t forget the Bishops palace and it’s lovely garden. Both the Palace and the Cathedral have cafes. The Bishops Table at the palace and Chapter Two at the Cathedral. Wells has many pubs, cafes and restaurants, a twice weekly market. A literary festival, a Food festival, Boules tournament in September and races on the palace moat. Nearby are the caves in Wookey Hole and Cheddar. Which are majestic, but I prefer Burrington Coombe the hymn Rock of ages is supposed to have been written here by a clergyman sheltering from the rain. The Newt at Bruton is well worth a visit to admire the beautiful gardens and enjoy a meal or some cider from the restaurant or the Cider bar. In the city on foot is best. But the bus service is good and the nearest.station Castle Cary can be reached by taxi. If you bring a car that is ideal for visits to Bath or Bristol or Taunton, all have park and ride schemes schemes. The only parking is on the streets in front of the cottage or nearby streets. There are car parks in Wells but I wouldn't advise overnight parking.
