Gites La Colombiere, situated near to the historic medieval Bastide of Eymet, is an old converted farmhouse surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. Nestled in the hamlet of Lestang , it’s a picture postcard French get away. It’s the perfect location for those wanting to escape and unwind for a few days but if you fancy fitting in some culture, history and sight-seeing or some activities there is much to see and do. The imposing tower of Le Pigeonnier greets you on arrival to La Colombiere. Le Pigeonnier is appointed to a high standard and sleeps up to 7 people. On the ground floor is a modern fully equipped kitchen, separate dining room overlooking parkland with access to the shaded front terrace with BBQ facilities and a comfy lounge with sofa, easy chairs, log-burner, Wi-Fi, TV with UK Free Sat channels and DVD Player. There are many walks around the country lanes from La Colombiere; each village had a “Boucle” (a circular walk) around it which generally start and finish at the local restaurant. Plus you can purchase walking maps of the area and of course there is always the Tourist Offices Cycling – bikes can be hired and delivered to La Colombiere. As well as visiting the grand chateaux and sampling their wares, many villages and towns have their own “fetes du vin”. The world famous Bordeaux festival takes place this year in late June; nearer home, the Sigoules “fete du vin” takes place mid July – this is the largest festival in the region where one can sample the best food and wine the region has to offer – not to be missed if you are here! The outside areas include parkland, woodland and our large rear gardens which can be used for a wide range of activities For the more discerning, a game of croquet or petanque will provide some “quiet competition” in the evening sun, before retiring to either the garden or pool terraces for some “al fresco” dining. And if that was not all, for those odd days when the sun doesn’t shine or you need a break from it, we have a 16 seat indoor cinema and games room.
