Beautiful setting with sea views and close to tourist attractions and pretty harbour villages of the Llŷn Peninsula. An ideal family base camp from which to explore the area. Traditional character, cosy and comfortable accommodation after a thoughtful modernisation creating an ideal holiday retreat situated right on the Wales coastal path. Close to Nant Gwrtheryn, sandy beaches of Morfa Nefyn. Ideal location for exploring by foot, bike or car for a family up to 6 people. Wow factor location. The accommodation includes use of the entire house with 3 Bedrooms and offers stunning seaviews and open countryside. Bed 3 is the loft room and is accessed by a narrow tread staircase. Contains single bed with pull out guest bed with stunning views to front and rear. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and views to the rear country side. Master Bedroom 1 looks out across the sea and has kingsize bed. All bedrooms are fitted out with ample storage facilities and finished to an excellent standard. The bathroom is modern and fresh and has combined bath and shower facility. Downstairs the living room is the place to relax with full view of the sea from the bay window. With cozy log burner for those cooler evenings. The dining area seats 6 comfortably and again in colder months the fully working woodburning Rayburn offers extra warmth and for the more adventurous a second cooking range offering a more authenticate Welsh feel if this is your thing. Please advise if you intend to use the Rayburn as I will give some basic instructions if not familiar with its use and log bags are available at an additional nominal charge. The kitchen is fully fitted with ceramic hob and electric oven, microwave oven, 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and ample storage cupboards to stock up for your self catered stay. Ample private parking and vehicle access is via side driveway and foot access is also easiest via the back door as negates use of any steps up to front door. The small patio to the front is the ideal spot to watch the beautiful sunsets and includes bench seat and small 2 seater table and chairs. The rear garden includes use of BBQ, a large decking area which seats 6 comfortably. Sea view is still available from decking area plus mountain views to the rear and also great location for night time star gazing. We do accept pets and access is restricted to ground floor only and a small additional cleaning fee of £10 will apply. Please advise before arriving if intending to bring any pets as of yet AirBnB cannot cater for this charge. Step free access is available to the rear of the property using the driveway. Access is to the entire house including private parking and garden and patio to rear and small patio to front. Vehicle access is via a shared driveway and your parking is behind closed gates at side of rear garden. Please close gates after use as keeps it more private. Access to house is by front or rear and from car the back door access is step free. Hi, Mike and Stephanie sometimes stay overnight at the separate top house in rear of property but are always available 24/7 by phone and we will do our best to meet and greet you and help you settle in and answer any questions about the house set up, or simply just any advice about where to explore. When self checking in the Keys will be waiting for you and we will just let you get on with your holiday, unless you need us you won't see us. A welcome pack will give you all the information you need for your stay. We can be as much or as little around to suit your stay as your host and you'll find this place is a a quiet spot on the Peninsula and we understand this is probably why you have booked it. Pistyll, is a small hamlet located on the north western Llyn Peninsula and just 100 metres from the Wales Coastal footpath, just a short walk further to explore the rugged yet spectacular pebble beach of Pistyll. To the rear of Gwelfor are views towards open countryside of equal splendour and especially on a clear night rear garden offers great star gazing opportunities. The jewel in the Crown at Gwelfor is sitting out on the front patio watching the stunning sun sets. The view is equally special from inside in the bay window and perhaps in the winter with a roaring log fire behind you. Gwelfor is an ideal holiday location just 3 miles from Nefyn and Nefyn beach and just little further the extensive sands of the beautiful Morfa Nefyn beach and its prestigious Golf Course. Pistyll is situated in a very quiet and rural part of North Wales and offers spectacular yet rugged coastline on the north west side of the peninsula. Yet only 20 minute drive is the busy market town of Pwllheli and the popular tourist village and boating paradise of Abersoch. A little further afield are the historic castles of Criccieth and Caernarfon, the beautiful village of Beddgelert and the mountains of Snowdonia all within easy reach by car from Pistyll. Heading further south , Aberdaron offers the final destination on the peninsula where you can take in summer a boat trip to explore the Bardsey island the destination of the pilgrimages many centuries ago. A perfect location to explore the area and enjoy the beautiful welsh country side and many stunning beaches and coves with various tourist attractions all nearby. At Gwelfor you are surrounded by the sea and countryside and it is just 11 miles coast to coast with Aberdaron the last stop on the Peninsula and a relatively easy cycle ride using marked national cycle routes 41 and 42. Just 3 miles drive away is the lost village of Nant Gwrtheryn, a village from by gone ages with the most spectacular decent down a steep roadway. It’s a must visit and enjoy the cafe at to beach front open throughout summer days. It is a very popular wedding venue and we often hosts guests attending the weddings held there. You can walk across the road to the Church of St Buenos a small church open to the public which is reputed to be dated as far back as 1100’s and a stop off point during the pilgrimage trail to Bardsey Island. Don’t mistake it for the small church right across the road to the right which is now sadly no longer in use. It is walkable using Welsh Coastal Path but very steep at times and views are well worth the effort. There are plenty of beaches to explore and by far a favourite is Whistling Sands or Porth Oer (in Welsh) along coast towards Aberdaron. Here you can access beach by foot only which means limited water vessels and beautiful sand is its attraction which at times will squeak as you walk across it, hence its name whistling sands. Of course no visit to the Peninsula would be complete without a trip on the public footpath across the famous Golf Course at Morfa Nefyn to the Ty Coch Inn at Porthdinllaen Beach near the Lifeboat Station. Pistyll has seen very little change over the years and often people don't even notice as they drive through, but we have come to love it more and more and it is the peace and quiet that is its attraction during both summer and winter months. The old miners terraced row form the main part of this tranquil character of Pistyll and we hope Gwelfor provides you with a comfortable and yet affordable stay on 'Pen Llyn'. There is a bus stop right outside Gwelfor Terrace but like many rural areas there are not many buses a day and times are posted at the stop or you can text for next bus time. In the summer months there is a local Peninsula Bus service which you can flag down that runs up and down the coastline at more regular intervals. Please ask for the website details if this is of interest to yourself and its usually just a £2 per person per journey. There is an abundance of beautiful beaches within easy reach offering family beach days out on the peninsula and also the renowned surfing beach of Porth Neigwl/Hell's Mouth which is an all year round surfers paradise. Pen Llyn offers some of the best sailing opportunities with the National Sailing Centre now fully up and running in Pwllheli plus the sailing clubs of Abersoch nearby. Many come to the peninsula for the spectacular landscape views enjoyed by walkers and cyclists but golf is really one of the key attractions for this location with one of the countries most ideal coastal courses at Morfa Nefyn. There are golf courses also at Abersoch and Pwllheli which are popular with visiting golfers too. The Wales Coastal footpath just 100 metres in front of you you have access by foot to the most spectacular section of arguably, the UK's most scenic walking trail here on the LLyn peninsula. Walking northwards towards Nant Gwrtheryn takes you up some rugged and steep terrain with extremely elevated views towards Anglesey and Holyhead. On a clear day you can see Ireland to the west. Walking from the door southwards takes you strangely for a coastal footpath inland a short section but once you walk it, it becomes apparent why this route has been chosen for the views towards Nefyn and then follows the coast along the clifftops towards Morfa Nefyn and the Lifeboat station where you can take a well earned break at the Ty Coch Inn. For cyclists the Llyn Peninsula is a hidden jewel in the crown from the cycling community many cycling groups have yet to discover its beauty. Don’t be fooled by its extensive coastline as the sea is flat but not the coastal terrain as there are some of the steepest climbs in the region just a few miles away both along the coast and inland . For the more adventurous cyclists it is also within easy access to Snowdonia region and the routes through Rhyd Ddu and Beddgelert are a must for your 'ride it' list. I can provide you with many circular routes via gps file if you need some help planning routes or simly just a chat to help you discover the best on offer using the many single track roads criss crossing the peninsula. By prior arrangement I can offer secure indoor cycle store, wash facilities and a workshop facility shop you be unfortunate enough to need. Please ask if you need any further information on how to get around and the scenic routes to take in the spectacular views. For cyclist I can offer a secure storage facility immediately behind rear access door with bicycle workshop tools readily available, being a keen cyclist myself I understand bikes often need a little tweaking but also kept safe and secure during your stay. I can provide advice on cycle and walking routes from the door and you will be amazed at the extent of walking and cycling pretty much from the door. For the more adventurous cyclist, Snowdonia is easily accessible and I can point you in the direction of some of the steepest climbs in North Wales (and possibly the country) Last but not least the Log Burner and Rayburn in winter months are a great way to relax in front of whilst reflecting on the days activity. Additional bags of logs are available at nominal costs to cover replenishment for longer stays. If you require access to washing machine please ask in advance as this is primarily available for week long stays.
