French Farmhouse in Rural Village, SW France.

Our beautiful old stone farmhouse in South West France has been restored bringing light, beauty & comfort. Situated in a quaint rural village, surrounded by sunflower fields it is an ideal venue to relax, explore the French markets, visit the region. Locally Cognac, La Rochelle, Marais Poitevin, Niort, Poitiers, Ile de Ré. Bordeaux & the Loire are a couple of hours by car. Paris 2 hrs by TGV. A perfect location for anyone wanting a taste of authentic France! Our place is an ideal place for family reunions & celebrations, groups of mature friends travelling together. The 2 hectare property features stone walled buildings with terracotta tiled roofs, a seasonal stream and beautiful trees and garden. The farm is surrounded by the working rural village of Juillé. Other lovely local villages are a cycle ride away. The main house has four comfy bedrooms for up to 8 people, a modern kitchen, cellar, spacious dining and lounge rooms and a sunny conservatory. A large covered barn area with enormous candlelit chandelier is a wonderful venue for long table dining events. Juillé is a small working farming village. The nearest shops are approximately 3km away. The boulangère can, by arrangement, stop by the house every morning with fresh bread and croissants but restaurants, banks, supermarkets are 7 minutes away. The entire farmhouse is available to guests. Basic bikes are available to borrow if required. A vehicle is absolutely necessary as it is a short drive to the nearest shops and restaurants. Parking is available on site. Depending on the season we will be located close by to give advice and to welcome. We also have a local English speaking French manager Christine to welcome and assist where required and during Corona Virus travel restrictions. Juillé is located in the Poitou-Charentes region of Western France. Deux Sevres is part of the Poitou-Charentes region in western France and is the perfect place to unwind, relax and experience a taste of French life at it's most authentic. Known as one of France’s ‘Best Kept Secrets’ the Deux-Sèvres is the tranquil, laid-back, unspoilt department of the Poitou-Charentes, the second sunniest region in France. It is filled with lazy winding rivers, and is a region truly dedicated to relaxing, restful holidays. Juillé is surrounded by gently undulating fields and meadows. Explore the many country lanes and pathways close by which lead to verdant pastures crisscrossed with hedgerows, picturesque fields of golden corn and sunflowers, and pretty havens of woodland. Trees and flourishing wild-flowers host a variety of wildlife, birds and butterflies. Ancient stone buildings also form part of the countryside scenery and the patchwork slate and terracotta tiled roofs are a visual delight. Throughout the area, traditional village markets sell fantastic, fresh seasonal produce. Savour all the different flavours of meats, olives, cheese, pâté and other regional specialities. You will need to hire a car. Nearest train station is Niort or Poitiers. We are a 30-40 minute drive from Niort. 1 hr from Poitiers and La Rochelle. Nearest airport, La Rochelle or Poitiers. There are some wonderful restaurants, food & flea markets you will want to explore! Our farmhouse is beautifully cool in Summer, there is an open fireplace for cooler seasons, and heaters available. There is central heating. There is an unfenced small pond on the property.
