Stable cottage, comfortable and cozy
Stable Cottage is a cosy cottage on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It provides all you need as a relaxing base to stay and explore the picturesque Forest and Wye Valley. Great area for walking, cycling and outdoor adventures for all, from level old railway lines to step Wye Valley hills you’ll find terrain to suit you. Good walking and cycling right from the door, and great places to visit within a short drive. Located near to a main road, it's easy to travel in to Forest or City of Gloucester Stable Cottage is a semi-detached barn conversion located in a farm yard, it's no longer a working farm but there is still activity and old farm buildings and equipment around. Not usually noisy or intrusive. There is a solid double layer concrete block wall between the cottages so sound is well blocked between them. The Cottage is a converted barn built of red stone, typical of the area. It has mod cons and central heating . The traditional stone and timber build has modern open plan living space downstairs that feels cozy, having three defined areas. Kitchen with all you’d expect including fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Dining space with table and chairs and living space with comfortable sofa and smart TV for relaxing. Upstairs the two bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams. Main bathroom has bath with a drench shower, additional toilet downstairs. Cottage has it's own WiFi, approx 5Mbps so it's good enough for streaming and browsing We're offering change over Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, but will be as accommodating as possible, so you maybe able to start & finish on other days depending on other bookings. We will do all we can to help make your stay enjoyable and answer any questions and provide advice on the area. The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley provide a lovely area to get out and about from well defined tracks to paths far off the beaten track. The area is popular with tourists, there are many activities of all sorts locally including, cycle hire, Go Ape, river canoeing, horse riding, historic buildings, and even a steam train. You're only 1 mile from the nearest shop and 3 miles from nearest town so it's convenient to get supplies, and takeaway! There are a number of activities within 5 minutes walk, Elton Carp Lake: 2 fishing lakes Forest of Dean Adventure Golf: pirate themed! Elton Maze Maize: getting lost has never been so much fun (summer holidays only) BattleSports Glos: outdoor laser tag Redhill Extreme: downhill bike tracks Located next to a main road it's easy to make your way in to the Forest or Dean and Wye Valley, or out to Gloucester. There is bus stop, for the Stagecoach number 22, across the main road that will take you to Cinderford and Forest one way and Gloucester the other way. Buses running hourly approx. 6am - 8pm. There is also good walking and cycling right from the cottage, either off road on footpaths and tracks or on quiet lanes or a mixture. Some directions are fairly flat, or head towards Cinderford and in 3 miles you can climb over 200m!
