One of the original properties of the Holker Estate, Rose Dene Cottage is situated just a short walk to the main gates of Holker Hall and Gardens, with the beautiful surrounding parkland guests can enjoy. The Cottage has 3 bedrooms, Bathroom, Lounge, Dining Room, Kitchen and Utility with WC. Outside is a large rear garden with plenty of room for outside dining. Short drive to the village of Cartmel home to Michelin Restaurants and our own Racecourse with Lake Windermere being a 15 minute drive. Many original features are still visible in this classic Country Cottage. The property was renovated two years ago to include a new kitchen and bathroom with overhead electric shower. Downstairs the property has a Lounge, Dining Room with gas fire, under stair coat hooks and cupboard and the added benefit of a utility room with WC and boot area for those long walks in the parklands or on the fells. Outside and to the rear is the large garden area which provides space for dining and outdoor games. NB. although the neighbouring property has right of way across the pathway for access to their adjoining rear garden - due to the size this should not impinge on your enjoyment of the private garden to Rose Dene. Parking is provided in the Holker School car park which is located approximately 100 yards from the property. Directions will be provided Plenty of local walks in the area straight from your door. We will also provide a permit to our Levens Estuary walk located on the coast. A car is essential as the property is semi-rural. Nearest Train station is within Cark-in-Cartmel, approx 5 minute taxi ride. All Guests of Rose Dene Cottage receive free entry to Holker Hall & Gardens (between March 11th and October 30th 2022) Plus a 10% discount from A Days Walk. A Cumbrian Food specialist and delivery service. A VIP Code is provided prior to your stay to access the A Days Walk website where you can order delivery straight to the Cottage door. The cottage is situated adjacent to the Historic Holker Hall parkland. Right on your doorstep is access to an Historic Stately Home and award winning gardens. Our team at Holker hold many events and activities during the year, details of which you shall find in your Welcome Pack. Just outside the village of Cark in Cartmel, you will find a train station, small convenience store and two pubs. Further afield Cartmel is a 5 minute drive which is home to the Michelin Star Restaurant L'Enclume and Rogan and Co and our own Cartmel Racecourse. Being on the gateway to the Lakes we boast the added benefit of being in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular tourist areas of the Lakes, but still within easy reach of Lake front and amenities in the area. As locals of the area we shall be happy to provide details of walks, bike rides, tours and anything else you need. Cars Bikes and Walking is the way to get around the area. The village does not have many public transport links, save for the train station located in Cark-in-Cartmel (roughly 20-30 minute walk) On your doorstep the Holker Parkland is a beautiful walking space where you can view our gorgeous herd of deer as well as flora and fauna in the gardens. Our coastal permissive access permit provides guests with access to the Leven's Estuary which is a beautiful walk taking in the surrounding fells and water ways. Roudsea Wood and Mosses Nature Reserve is located on the Estate approximately 20 minutes walk from the property or 5 minutes by car. We will provide you with a parking permit and plans of the walks available around this area. Please note the adjoining neighbours have dogs.
