Treetop Sanctuary With Sea Views
Recently renovated this 1940s weatherboard house with polished rimu floors is full of character and charm. Beautifully decorated and filled with artwork by local artists (and some from a bit farther afield) this is truly a home away from home. The house sits in an elevated position facing north so it gets all day sun and 180 degree views from the Centre of New Zealand in the east to Tasman Bay in the west. Located at the end of a cul de sac it's private and quiet. We love to collect art, primarily by local Nelson artists, and you'll find a lot of it in the house. A comfortable queen bed (Sealy Posturepedic) in each bedroom, fresh linen/towels and welcoming spaces (inside and out) make this home a joy to stay in. There are two decks with outdoor furniture to enjoy - one off the dining room/kitchen and the other off the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who like to cook - food processor, juicer, blender, coffee grinder, stick blender, oodles of pots and pans and baking paraphernalia and great knives. Our new addition is an espresso maker - Breville The Infuser - which gives you a cafe quality cup of coffee. The bathroom has a heated towel rail, sun lamps and a heater to keep you warm on those cooler autumn/winter mornings. There is also a heatpump in the lounge and a second larger heatpump in the dining room/kitchen. Guests have access to the whole house apart from one room downstairs (which we use as storage). When we travel we prefer to be left to our own devices and that's how we treat our guests. We don't meet or greet but we are constantly contactable if you need assistance with anything. Nelson is hilly and our house sits atop one of its many hills - hence the elevated sea views. It's less than a 5 minute drive into the city centre or about a 20 minute walk for the reasonably fit (30 minutes back because of the uphill climb). Most people will need a car. Nelson is amazing in terms of its sheer numbers of excellent restaurants/cafes. It's extremely difficult to have a bad coffee! We have a single garage with automatic door opener. There is plenty of off-street parking right in front of the house.
