Charming and rustic cabin on farm.
The Cabin is situated on the edge of our garden facing down the valley, it's open plan with a sleeping nook which has a very comfortable double bed, the kitchen has a fridge/freezer and a 2 ring gas hob and the bathroom has toilet/sink and a shower. The cabin is an ideal place to relax and a great base for cyclists , walkers, horse riders or explorers, our 2 small dogs will rush out to greet you barking their heads off and my husband will rush out after them telling them to be quiet! However they are friendly and get on with most dogs and humans. I will leave you a bottle of wine, some bread and some fresh eggs if they are available but you will need to get supplies en route. There are some dvds too for a cosy night in . The double bed is extremely comfortable with duck down duvet and french linen curtains around it making it a cosy nook. The bathroom has a powerful shower and the kitchen area has a fridge/freezer and a two ring gas hob and is perfect for light cooking and preparing lunches etc however you may struggle to make a roast dinner, a microwave or a mini oven can be provided for guests that are staying for more than two nights but we find that most people want to go to the pub for dinner, there is also a bbq/fire pit so you can sit outside and stargaze. The cabin is at the top of a farm track that goes uphill, its not steep but can be tricky to reverse down, there is another track that you can drive down which is quite steep , if you have a low sportscar you would have to reverse back down the track or turn the car around at the top, my husband is always on hand to help a damsel in distress .. you can park right outside the cabin. The cabin is in our garden fairly close to the house but faces away from us and is fenced off , we will be on hand to help with anything but at the same time will respect your privacy. We are surrounded by countryside with just our road that runs directly through the middle of the farm splitting into two sides, my husbands brother runs several hundred sheep on one side and we have a small flock on our side . The road can be dead quiet or busy and I wouldn’t recommend walking on it. There are fabulous walks in either direction , up to Hardys monument is one mile up through the farm on the other side of the road, just go straight up the track to the last gate and straight up the path through the forestry and you can see for miles up there including the sea . From there you could walk to the pub (the kings arms) in Portesham or further on to Abbotsbury which is a gorgeous village with 2 pubs. You will need a car to go to any shops. Its a mile to the nearest bus stop the X53 stops in portesham and travels along the jursasic coast with an hourly service., 6 miles from Dorchester train station, we can collect you from there if need be but there are taxis and car rental in Dorchester Dogs are welcome upon request, there are lots of lovely walks , we now have a fence around the cabin garden . it's £5 per night per dog which you can pay on arrival or departure
