Les Loriots - a hidden gem waiting for you!

Les Loriots is one of two gites each sleeping six people, in a renovated farmhouse nestled amongst five hectares of beautiful meadows and woodland. The gites are fully-furnished and offer all modern comforts for your stay. The renovation has been carried out tastefully to high standards, and includes many environmentally friendly measures. Come and spend some time living amongst nature in our unspoilt private paradise, yet just a kilometre from the medieval town of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. La Chabanaise is a former farm with five hectares of land, tucked into a small valley above the medieval village of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. The land is home to two properties: a converted barn where we live; and a recently-renovated character farmhouse which has become 'Les Loriots' and 'Les Hirondelles'. Home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, our land is a peaceful haven in which to relax. It is also a wonderful base for those wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding area with its wide open spaces and clean air. Here you are spoilt for choice - there are medieval villages, stunning views, outdoor activities including; canoeing, mountain biking, rambling, climbing, golf, fishing para gliding and more, archaeological treasures, parks, gardens...the list is endless. Just a couple of minutes away in the car or by bike, or 20 minutes on foot, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne is a medieval town on the banks of the river. Here you can meander around the ancient town, sit and watch the world go by in one of the cafés, take a river cruise on the gabare, or simply sit and relax by the river (and go for a swim if the mood takes you). With over a million visitors a year, it is not hard to understand why a visit to Rocamadour is a must! Nestled on a cliff side, the village is famous for many things including for being an important site of pilgrimage on the Santiago de Compostela route. Here you will be spoilt with medieval houses, stone fortified gateways, chapels, monuments, castles...the list goes on. Rodez-Aveyron Airport (approximately 2.5 hours from La Chabanaise) - Flights with Ryanair to and from Dublin and Brussels Charleroi. Bergerac Airport (approximately 2.5 hours from La Chabanaise) - Flights with Ryanair to and from Bristol, Liverpool, East Midlands and Stansted. BY CAR If you prefer to drive, you can reach us in a day from the north coast of France, using the Channel Tunnel, or a ferry from Dover, Newhaven, Portsmouth, Poole, Plymouth or Weymouth. BY TRAIN Our nearest main railway station is just 40 minutes away at Brive-la-Gaillarde where trains arrive regularly. Less frequent trains connect to Bretenoux Biars station which is less than 7 kilometres from us.
