Built towards the end of the 1800s, Hampden House retains many of its original features including outbuildings, 3 sandstone fireplaces, century old hardwood flooring and cedar windows. It is set on acreage with frontage to the Kangaroo River and is a short stroll to the quaint heritage listed village of Kangaroo Valley. The house has wide verandas with extensive views of the surrounding valley escarpments. The property has been in the same family for 5 generations and the current host is the great grand-daughter of the original owner. The main house has 4 bedrooms featuring many of the property’s original furnishings. The kitchen and separate living room offer stunning views of the property surrounds and feature the original chimneys, echoing the sandstone of the renowned Hampden Bridge. Hampden House sits beyond a laurel hedge amongst fruit trees. Meander in the orchard or down to the waters edge and listen to the gently flowing river as you relax in the garden.
