Freshwater Village Beach Cottage

This convenient, newly renovated, Studio Cottage is close to everything, located in the heart of Freshwater. The beaches, and village cafes, bars, shops and transport are all on your doorstep. You can enjoy all that Sydney has to offer, with Manly just around the corner, with regular Ferries or buses to the city. The decor is clean, comfortable and beachy, with new furniture throughout, a kitchenette and all the amenities you need for easy self catering. You will have private access. The Studio is at the end of our garden, but has it's own private side access and is screened off from the main house for optimum privacy. We will usually be living in the main house on the property, and available for any questions or help you may want. However, your Studio is screened off from the main property and you can choose to be as private or as sociable as you desire. Freshwater, is a village of variety with a strong community vibe. Freshwater is located 17 kilometres north-east of Sydney central business district. The size of Freshwater is approximately 2 km² . It has 5 parks covering nearly 9% of the total area. Harbord Village (which we are located at the top of) is the thriving town centre of Freshwater with a number of cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and thriving businesses. A vast variety of cuisines including Thai, Indian, Modern Australian and Italian would cater to everyone’s taste buds. With a post office, butcher, dry cleaner, hairdressing salons, florist, real estate, fitness club, financial services this town centre has all the mod cons to keep the local community happy. The Harbord Hilton is the friendly local pub with a quality restaurant, beer garden, live entertainment and a drive through bottle shop. Or the Stowaway, in the village, offers a trendier option for a beer (or cocktail) with the "hipster crowd". Freshwater Beach is a popular spot for beach and holiday goers with one of the Northern Beaches most popular swim beaches. Freshwater Reserve is located next to Freshwater Beach with BBQ/picnic areas to enjoy a day out with friends and family. A surf pool and a coastal walk are just some of the other attractions to Freshwater. Freshwater is a stunning family beach wedged between two headlands, Freshwater is a short walk north from Manly. A coastal walk further north will take you to Curl Curl. The north headland provides excellent protection from the summer nor'easter, and waves are fairly consistent right along the beach thanks to reliable sandbanks. An eight lane, 50 metre saltwater pool at the north end is a favourite with lap swimmers. Freshwater's unique claim to fame is that this is where surfboard riding was popularised in Australia by Hawaiian 'Duke' Kahanamoku. Duke famously carved a board from a piece of local timber and demonstrated surfing for an enthralled crowd on 15 January 1915. A life-size statue of Duke Kahanamoku on the northern headland commemorates the historic day. Freshwater is part of the Manly-Freshwater National and World Surfing Reserve that recognises the historical, cultural, and environmental values of famous surfing beaches. (E65) Buses run to and from Sydney CBD in peak hours. (139) Buses run to Manly and Warringah Mall till late. (136) Buses run to and from Chatswood till late. Famous Manly is also just a 5 minute bus or uber away. Ferries from here run frequently into the city and surrounds. Airport shuttles come to this area. Do not hesitate to ask if we can provide particular things to make your stay more comfortable. Surf boards, boogie boards, kids toys, buckets and spades can all be shared to make your stay the best possible!
