Unique character cottage, with a mix of traditional and contemporary features. Situated within the village of Talgarth, nestled in the foothills of the Black mountains in the Brecon Beacons national park. Just 10 miles from Brecon to the West and 7 miles from the famous book town Hay on Wye to the East. Situated in a very quiet back lane with parking in front of property for one car, ( additional parking available 200 meters down the road.) Cosy lounge with leather sofa and comfy chairs, log burner for cwtching on an evening. Modern kitchen. Downstairs toilet, dining room, garden with seating, two bedrooms, one double and two singles which can be made up to a double if you wish. Bathroom with toilet, bath and separate walk in power shower. You will have access to the main house and garden. Garage, office room and separate garden are not included but are fenced and locked accordingly for your privacy and security. We will do our utmost to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We can offer advice if required about where to go things to do places to eat etc. Or we can leave you to it, the choice is yours. Based in the Brecon Beacons national park with the Black mountains on our doorstep means we have wonderful access to a diverse array of activities. There are amazing walks from the house, waterfalls, and mountains. The river Wye offers wonderful opportunities for canoeing/ kayaking. Llangorse lake is about 3 miles away and offers a range of water based activities, sailing, boating, fishing and bird watching in the hide. The gliding field is a mile up the road and you can book gliding lessons; great for a surprise treat! As cyclists and trail running enthusiasts there is a massive range of excellent road and mountain biking, from a leisurely jaunt to an all day killer loop if required! Hay on Wye is 7 miles up the road, famous for its books and literature festival. Brecon town with its cathedral, theatre and canal where you can hire or take a trip on a canal barge. Crickhowell is also an excellent place to visit with independent shops and some great places to eat and further hill walking opportunities. We have many horse riding schools locally and an award winning climbing centre which also has a zip wire and high ropes course at Llangorse. Talgarth has a small but well stocked co-op shop open until 10pm most days. We have a wonderful butchers which sells local meat and free range eggs., we also have a delicatessen with lovely cheeses and olives and cakes,.also we have The Mill which was featured on tv as it was renovated, they have a lovely cafe and you can buy fresh baked bread, just get there early as it is popular. The Strand cafe in town does a brilliant breakfast to set you up for a good days walking, they also do meals and takeaways. There are larger stores in Hay and Brecon. Most supermarkets will deliver if you want to pre order food shopping. There are rail networks to Abergavenny and Hereford which are about 20 miles away. There is a bus service to Talgarth, but please be aware these are not as regular as you may find in a city, so please research beforehand. There are taxi options if required. Cardiff/ Bristol airport are about 50 miles away. The main house will be yours entirely. On occasion we may be staying next door in the mini cottage which is completely separate with dividing fence. You can park one car right outside the front of the cottage. Just make sure there is enough space for other cars or vans to get past up the narrow lane as there are properties up there too. There is a free car park 2 minutes walk away just off the island.
