The Barn - Woodend
Within easy walking distance from the heart of Woodend sits this stylish and spacious barn accommodation nestled into our 4 acre property. An original barn with soaring cathedral ceiling, featuring a mix of stylish vintage and modern furnishings. Just a two minute drive (or easy 10-15 minute walk) from the heart of Woodend sits this stylish and spacious barn accommodation nestled into our 4 acre property. Within walking distance of all the amenities that Woodend has to offer, and yet with the relaxed feel of a small country farm. An original building on the property, believed to date back to the mid 20th century, The Barn has been thoughtfully renovated to include a spacious, light-filled bedroom, an expansive living / kitchen area with 5½ metre cathedral ceilings, gorgeous French doors leading to a sunny garden space, made private by a tall picket fence and softened by escallonia hedging, magnolias and ornamental pear trees. Add in the modern and stylish bathroom with large rain shower and instant hot water and you have the perfect getaway and base in the Macedon Ranges to call your own whatever your reason for visiting. Bedroom A cosy, yet bright space is perfect for those long, morning lie-ins. A comfortable queen size bed with quality bedlinen is complemented by abundant pillows and throws, and an electric blanket for those chilly nights. Reverse cycle heating and air conditioning keeps the bedroom at the perfect temperature and there is a wardrobe and chest of drawers provided for guest use. Stylishly decorated with a mix of vintage, locally sourced and modern pieces, it’s an ideal space for rest and relaxation. Bathroom Just across the hallway is the spacious and sophisticated bathroom, with large shower with overhead rain showerhead and separate hand held showerhead. Instantaneous, gas hot water ensures a great shower every time! A wall hung vanity with countertop sink and great mirrors and lighting are complemented by elegant tiling and the shiplap walls and ceiling give a nod to the building’s country heritage. Towels are provided as well as a hairdryer. Living / Kitchen The living room and kitchen is the real showpiece of this building. With towering, cathedral ceilings letting in gorgeous light at any time of the day and carefully selected items of furniture, both vintage and modern, all selected to ensure the highest level of comfort and enjoyment. A Morsø wood burning fire warms the space beautifully in winter and a reverse cycle a/c unit heats and cools at any time of year. A huge ceiling fan also helps to keep you cool in the warmer months. Plus, carefully curated local or vintage artwork adds aesthetic interest to the space. Although it does not have full cooking facilities (there is no oven or extractor fan) all other kitchen facilities (including a coffee plunger, portable hob, sandwich press, microwave, toaster, kettle and egg poacher) are here. We ask that guests cook any food that is likely to create cooking fumes on the BBQ outside. Breakfast provisions for your first day are provided, which may include eggs from our gorgeous flock of free range chickens, yoghurt and bread, butter, jam and milk. Our pantry is stocked with provisions including tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. For entertainment during your stay there is a large, flat screen television with free to air TV channels as well as Netflix. We have also provided a selection of board games, cards, books and magazines for you to play and read during your stay. The Barn has its own WiFi network, however as the NBN can be a little temperamental at times, for those occasions that Netflix won’t stream we have provided some DVDs and a DVD player. Private courtyard garden In the warmer months, throw open the French doors from the living room and sit outside in your private, picturesque courtyard garden. You can choose from comfortable seating in the sun with a glass of local wine (or a cheeky g&t from one of the local gin distilleries) or to dine at the spacious outdoor setting after cooking dinner on the bbq provided. In the cooler months, light a fire and cosy up with one of the throws you will find in your accommodation (* fire pit is only available outside of fire restriction periods). About Us We live on 4 acres in a 120 year old farmhouse on the property. Our house is around 20 metres from the Barn and is our family home so please be aware that during your stay you may hear our children playing, be visited by our flock of chickens, hear the horses galloping around in the paddock or us going about our business on the property. We are always happy to have a chat with guests and make recommendations of things to do, however we have created the private courtyard garden to ensure that our guests can still have privacy during their stay and their own outdoor space. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the furnishings and the layout of The Barn it is not suitable for children or pets. We are happy for our guests to wander over to the 'potager' (french-style kitchen garden filled with flowers and veggies) to pick some produce. Depending on the time of year this may include zucchini, cucumbers, peas, beans, lettuce, tomatoes and herbs. Our horses are friendly but we ask that if guests would like to visit them, they don't venture into the paddock but rather pat or feed them over the fence (watch your fingers!!). We moved here from Melbourne in 2014 and have spent that time renovating and creating the lovely property that we have today. We share a driveway so visitors will need to be aware of children and animals (our chickens free-range while we are at home and they are often wandering around on the driveway) and drive accordingly. We are very proud of what we have created in The Barn and hope that our guests will enjoy and respect it as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you to The Barn Woodend. You can also check out what’s happening on our Insta @thebarnwoodend FLOWERS If you are visiting for a special reason such as an anniversary or birthday celebration and would like us to include a bouquet of flowers on arrival please get in touch and we can arrange this. We run a micro flower farm from our property and during growing season we supply a local farm gate with flowers for sale. We can put together a special bouquet as a gift (additional charges will apply so please message to arrange). We have created a lovely space for guests, both indoors and outdoors, to enable you to have privacy and space. If you would like to visit our chickens or horses or take a look at a specific part of our garden please feel free to wander. We have created an abundant kitchen garden that provides us with much of our food throughout the year and the flowers for our house and guests in the warmer months. We are also very happy to show guests through the garden and answer any questions. Please let me know if you are interested. We understand that for many guests, part of staying through Airbnb is meeting local people and getting local information. We are very happy to chat with guests about our property and the surrounding area and make recommendations of what to do in this lovely party of the world. However, if guests would prefer to be left alone during their stay we are also happy to leave you to your own devices. I can be contacting during your stay by phone, text or email or just speak to me if you see me outside.
