Room in Red Cottage, near Outlander locations!
My lovely 1840s home (where I live) is just 7 minutes’ walk from the nearest train station, with direct links to Edinburgh, Dundee, Leuchars (for St Andrews) Perth, & Aberdeen among others. Edinburgh is about one hour by car, or 45 minutes by train. St Andrews is 40 minutes by car, 45 minutes by train and bus, or 1hr 10 mins by bus only. In Markinch, once the ancient capital of Fife, you will find yourself in a village conservation area. My eco-cottage is heated by an Air Source Heat Pump and a log-burning stove, and also has solar panels. You will have full access to the kitchen, TV, Wifi &, washing machine. Plenty free on-street parking. For some truly lovely Scottish scenes, I’m a kipper’s throw from the beautiful East Neuk fishing villages (30 minutes drive / on the bus route). Make a day of it by visiting the world-famous St Andrews (the home of golf, but don’t worry; there’s a golf course just a 10 minute walk from the cottage!) I’m also just 10 minutes' drive from the unique village of Falkland which was used as a location for the Outlander series. Falkland Palace was the 14th Century hunting palace of our Scottish Kings and Queens. Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned in a castle on nearby Loch Leven... what a fantastic visit! There is a lovely park nearby, famous for its rhododendron collection, and there are other pleasant signposted walks in the area. Please note that as of 16/6/21 I have a new 10-week-old puppy - a gorgeous Labradoodle. Training is still a work in progress! I look forward to welcoming you to my lovely home in central Fife. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare meals. It's a shared bathroom / shower-room. I am quite informal with guests, so am likely to join you at breakfast. I will be there to welcome you, but you will get a key so you can come & go as you wish. Markinch is a very safe, quiet town. My cottage is off the road, so you won't hear any traffic. There are very good public transport links, as the train station (a few minutes' walk away) is a travel hub. Note that although there is free parking on the road, there is normally no parking on the driveway, except by prior arrangement. I need the parking space to charge my electric car, but I can charge elsewhere if required because of mobility needs.
